It looks like this phone is on sale again for $40 and will unlock after 6 months. Yes, it is not as good as Pixel 6a or the Samsung A54, but it cost less than 1/2 compared to both of the phones but it is the best value for $40. Although the phone specs are good, it is still stuck on Android 12.

This is my current phone and it works just fine. Camera isn't the best, but that is to be expected. The battery lasts me all day and I use my phone a lot.

I have no idea and frankly, I don't care on such a cheap phone as long as it turns on and works.

The really nice thing here if you are able to wait 6 months for the unlock, is that it is available on the website without an activation fee or a visit to the horrible stores where there are documented events here on multiple threads of the salespeople using all kinds of hidden fees and outright lies to pump up the prices.

OnePlus is not the same anymore and so is its OS (which is now almost the same as oppo's color os) The biggest issue with all the subsidiaries of BBK Electronics Corporation (OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Realme) is data theft and security/privacy concerns. Unless you are unlocking the bootloader, wiping the OS completely and using a clean custom rom, the risk of data theft is not worth it. That is part of the reason why these devices are generally dirt cheap as compared to competition.

In fact oppo, vivo and realme are so fishy, they don't even allow bootloader unlocking at all and oneplus is now on the same track.

This is just my opinion based on my experience. Not claiming that it is a make or break for anyone else who is considering these devices. No intention to offend.

4 major OS upgrades, along with five years of security patches

found this on the web, it looks pretty good to me, matches Samsung

updated: the above info is for their flagship phone.

thanks to FatFaluz on this phone:
This phone was released in April 2022. Official update policy is 1 year OS (which it got already Android 11 -> 12) and 3 years of security updates until 2025.

Yes, the phone is "free", just have to pay $40 for the first month and you can unlock in 6 months just like the rest of the Metro phones.

They said that the Nord N20 se is on Android 13 beta, but I think that Oneplus is leaving the NXX series in the lurch and don't get the same software update treatment as their flagship phones.I would guess that Oneplus is getting more security updates compared to Motorola, but no latest OS updates.

Read the Otto and Pug comments just above. Today's Nord is not the Nord of years past.

It came out of the gate with solid tech support. That reputation is now in tatters...

"Top Android Phones From China Are Packed With Spyware, Research Finds"
https://gizmodo.com/android-xiamo...1850082989

A study published by computer scientists at several different universities reveals that phone makers like Xiamoi, OnePlus, and Oppo Realme, some of the most popular in China, are all collecting massive amounts of sensitive user data via their respective operating systems, as are a variety of apps that come pre-installed on the phones.

Um, Dude? That's for enterprise Samsung Data Services and its websites. Not their phones. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)laugh out loud

Further down, it stipulates that it will not release any customer info without consent.

So, I hope those out-of-context cherries you're picking are tasty. LMAOLMAOLMAO
