Got this for a few dollars more a few weeks ago. Good for small transfers on external. Data dumping, don't bother with it.

I'm pretty sure you have a better chance at winning at Vegas Slots than you do at actually getting your rebate from Newegg.

MSI rebates have a reputation for taking 6+ months, plus this uses a lower tier controller. If it were a straight up price, I'd consider it, but with the rebate, I'd go with a SN570 over this -- better controller, higher TBW (480 vs 600), and brand reputation.

"After rebate"…. Annnnnnd, I'm out. Why do retailers do this!? Surely no-one likes rebates! I don't know why they insist on doing it.

One easy answer is that flash memory conforms to way more packages than drives of the past, so they can produce a ton of the same chip and then design PCBs as needed. We're also seeing longer cycles of the same chip fabrication since we've hit a good spot in terms of specs.

Cheaper to produce for longer usually results in some savings passed onto the consumer as new products become available.

100% agree, who still does mail in rebates in 2023? Newegg still scummy as ever!

That's still a 3 though. Office Max has a 2 TB PCI4 for $92 and I have cash back from that Duracell deal a couple weeks back, might be the winner

NAND flash oversupply. Investors are saying prices will continue to fall since there is still an oversupply but I think $33/tb is already a good deal and we might not see anything better than that. I remember buying hard disk drives at $33/tb a few years ago

MSI, aka "the guys who can't keep their signing keys secure". I'd rather wait for yet another deal

Intel 670p 2TB has been ~$73 for the past few weeks via multiple sellers and has a pretty decent reputation for its price-to-performance ratio.
