The tools work great. The convenience of electric is super. But I am mad I am going to have to drop $500 already on some new batteries. There is no way I would even come close to $500 of gas at this point.
I'm not saying don't go electric/EGO, just be aware that you will be replacing these batteries MUCH FASTER than you anticipate. Don't go electric because you think it will be cheaper in the long run - it won't be.

To give some background - I have a 7.5Ah battery that came with my Ego mower, and three 2.5Ah batteries that came with various tools. I have a big lawn and the 7.5Ah by itself doesn't suffice. I had figured that the three 2.5Ah batteries combined will give me as much juice as the 7.5Ah. But it's not even close. It's not a problem when the grass is short and dry. But if the grass is even slightly wet or even slightly tall, all three 2.5Ah batteries overheat extremely fast on the mower. I barely make one back and forth lap on the lawn that the lower capacity batteries are done for the day. Once they overheat I have to wait for the larger battery to finish charging again. The point is - I've been disappointed with lower capacity ego batteries. On paper 2.5x3 =7.5. But practically it doesn't work the same way. I don't get 100% more with the 3 batteries - maybe 20% more. I do wonder whether in that respect the 4Ah will truly give 53% of the 7.5Ah battery, or whether its practical capacity will be reduced drastically like the 2.5Ah ones.
$100 more gets you the 18 inch chainsaw too

Don't store or charge the batteries in a hot shed or garage. Don't store them at a freezing temp.

$130 for a highly rated (well reviewed) 5.0 Ah battery is… maybe not the worst idea I've ever had.
We'll see.
My 2 and 2.5's still seem to carry a decent charge. (As does my 10.0 that came with my mower.)

Was I perfect with the battery maintenance? No. I charged it when I needed it. I kept it in the garage. I let it drain to 0% sometimes. I left it on the charger several days in a row. Because I'm a normal human and I'm not going to be a slave to my yard work equipment after working for 3+ hours in 90 degree heat. I'm tired. And this is why I'm speaking as a normal user. If the requirement for the battery is that you must be perfect on maintaining it, people have to know that. My use is what I consider normal use.
I have a ton of other electric tools (Ryobi, DeWalt, Milwaukee) where I've never had any battery drain issues that I've had with EGO.
EGO Tools I own:
Backpack Blower
Handheld Blower
16" Chainsaw
Hedge Trimmer
Weed Whacker
Multi-head edger/tiller
All great tools. Battery - meh. That's all I'm saying.
