It's a riskier endeavour I suppose, but I just learned you can buy 52V 18.5Ah dual 1000W motor scooters on Alibaba for $700 that go 40mph and have a 40mile claimed range. That would be 962Wh of battery versus the 561Wh of this Segway. They go by the names of "T10-DDM" or "Zero 10x". They are what Varla rebrands as the Varla Eagle. You'd get four times the power so you can actually climb hills, and they come with hydraulic brakes. A 500W single motor can go up a gentle incline, but my experience has been that they need a little assistance on steeper hills unless you are small. A person shopping this one probably isn't cross shopping a Varla Eagle, but just sharing that info.

Yeah, the cost part of a segway definitely stinks. I always look for that unicorn, the holy grail of cheaper but still high quality. Sometimes you find it if you look hard enough.

I have that capability, but I understand some people aren't handy. It's pretty easy to get 14s7p battery packs, but I know some people would rather pay 50-100% more for the hope it will be under warranty even if they do have to pay nearly as much shipping costs for the warranty service as a battery would cost.

I think the Inokim Quick 4 might be better at this price. Also goes 25mph but has dual suspension.

I'm seriously considering it. Still riding on $350 scooters but considering the upgrade. The reviews on Alibaba for Titan, the actual manufacture, are good. If you want to see how it performs, type "Varla Eagle" into YouTube. It's identical.

You could just buy the vsett line from revrides or elsewhere. It's the newer version of the old zero line. The 2023 vsett scooters have an upgraded display unit.

The gotcha with Alibaba/Aliexpress/urlhasbeenblocked models is of course lack of support, but you get the lower QC'd stuff. With the more mainstream retailers they negotiate some level of QC for what they receive from Titan (grade A, B, etc) and get support so if you send it back to them, they can send it back to Titan if needed. Straight from Alibaba stuff tends to be the stuff Titan can't send to the retailers.

This is a good deal but check your local laws for PEVs. A lot in the US top out at 20mph before you need to register and insure.
