But those who love it mainly love it because the company claims that the litter is flushable (and the company says it's performed tests to ensure that the litter doesn't clog pipes and sewer systems).
However, putting your litter down the drain can do damage to local wildlife.
As we've written in our guide to dog poop bags, the US Environmental Protection Agency classifies pet waste as a pollutant, which can introduce excess nutrients and harmful microorganisms like parasites and coliform bacteria into rivers, streams, and groundwater. An issue particular to cat waste is toxoplasmosis, a parasitic infection carried by cats that in humans can cause serious complications during pregnancy and for those who have weakened immune systems. In California, evidence has linked toxoplasmosis from cat feces to increased mortality in sea otters, prompting legislation to attach anti-flushing notices on cat litter bags.

Just say No.
I have tried many brands of cat litter of various types as well (crystal, pine pellets, clay) and I prefer this over others for a few reasons. We currently use the Litter Robot 4 and it is a game changer when it comes to litter boxes. I found this is one of the better options when it comes to cat litter to pair with the litter robot. There is little to no odor. A single bag of this will last me months, with 4 cats, compared to clay litter which I felt like we were buying 20-lb bags every 2 weeks. I notice very little dust when using this as well and this sticks to my cat's paws way less than clay litter. It is pricier than buying clay litter but well worth it in my opinion, especially when you can score it on sale

"Each year, more than 860 billion gallons of this vile brew escapes sewer systems across the country. That's enough to flood all of Pennsylvania ankle-deep. It's enough for every American to take one bath each week for an entire year."

The best bang for your buck is the Petco store brand litter (you can refill your buckets for cheaper in store, too). Best cost to unscented smell reduction to dust and manageability there is.
If you can't have clay, use either paper (Yesterday's News brand) or pine for kittens (as ingesting clay can be harmful), all young cats should have pine pellets until at least ~2 mos age.
My life is a lot easier with flushable litter, litter box liners and two sifting litter boxes for two cats.
