Even the old BPA bottles only leached with very high temps and/or very long storage periods. It's all very overblown and rode the coattails of mass media fearmongering, mostly around baby products — understandable.

BPA-free is objectively better, I'm just saying they made it sound like we were drinking cyanide Wink

Because 1) the TAL is 1lb 11 oz empty while two x 32 oz Nalgene is a little over 12 oz, 2) the 32 oz Nalgene will fit in the water bottle holders in my backpack, and 3) my water filtration pump screws directly into the wide mouth Nalgenes.

It's all about the use case.

Nope - only one membership at REI. If you wait sometimes they offer a 30 dollar gift card when you pay the one time membership fee of 30 dollars. Membership essentially pays for itself.

I keep mine filled with water in the fridge. Chilled water ready to go any time. Have had them for over 10 years. I probably drank all the BPAs. Haven't had cancer yet knock on wood 🪵

If I'm buying one to drink from, the wide mouth threads into my water filter. Also, wide mouth if you ever plan to add ice and it's easier to clean. The narrow mouth is better if you're drinking on the move as there is less chance of splash while gulping.

I generally stopped buying into these scares because whenever you look into these things, the results are based on unrealistic scenarios that will never happen in real life. It's Aspartame 2.0.

I love these bottles, especially the narrow mouth. They are rugged and last forever it seems. As far as leaching goes, it's high temps and prolonged exposure. Obviously don't drink water that's basically cooked all day in the sun from any plastic container.
