Great entry level Swiss made watch. Extra $20 off when you sign up for their mailing list. Few different colors on sale as well as the powermatic 80 versions.
Yes. I hate a watch that I can put down today, pick up a week, a month, a year from now and its still keeping time. Just worthless. This model has the same case and hands as the automatic. The difference is the dial and the movement. The automatic looks better no doubt, but that's a matter of opinion. But to say it's a $5 watch because of the movement is just a dumb take. Luxury brands had to come up with something during the quartz crisis to save themselves from bankruptcy, so they just convinced everybody with either too many dollars or too little sense that quartz watches were for poor people even though they're more efficient in almost every way. This is coming from a dude with probably 20 automatic watches. I love autos for their complexity, but I don't get it twisted when it comes to quartz.
Come here to say that the dude above you made me realize that my GS 9F quartz is worth $5. f4rk d4ng, I could've saved a boatload of money for just getting a timex instead. I guess craftsmanship doesn't worth a dime.

Exactly. Goofs don't realize that some of the most desirable and precise time pieces are quartz. GS, Bulova Lunar Pilot, Citizen Calibre 100, Seiko Arnie, freaking Casio F91w. Shoot, even Omega has them. Automatics definitely have a soul to them and I love that, I'm just not silly enough to dump on a watch or the maker because they offer practical and affordable alternatives for their most popular watches.
I love how someone said the 'quarz' version is only worth $5...
First, learn how to spell if you're going to comment.
Second, you want to pay MORE for antiquated technology??? (I am guilty of my automatics too lol).
For $265 you're getting more than a movement, just so you know. You are getting an integrated and quick change bracelet design, sapphire crystal, reliable quartz movement, quality brand equity, quality finishing.
The "waffle" design on the auto is subjective, and frankly, everyone is ripping off the AP waffle. Also Powermatic 80 is still only 3.5 hz making it jittery when moving as opposed to a smoother sweep on 4hz movements.
A quartz movement can last a LONG time and battery changes every 3-5 years. An automatic needs servicing , regardless, and it can ONLY be serviced by Tissot/Swatch. That also will cost almost half the price of what the watch would be worth at the time (if not more).
For price... you are paying more for less accurate, more maintenance (which you can only get these serviced by Tissot/Swatch) and at the end of the day, these aren't going to retain value.
Get what you want but for the quartz clean and ease of use, this is a no-brainer!
I'd consider selling my other citizen and getting this w/ a rubber strap !
Swiss batteries are top notch. 😜
I chatted with my best friend Antwan from Tissot. This watch uses a Renata 371 battery. Only 5-7 years out of it though.

The automatic movements, I feel give the watch more value. A Tissot is upper end non-luxury and I look at this as I would a nice Seiko. You're right about the maintenance and the practicality but heck. Maybe I'll love the watch and want to service it and keep it in rotation. The value thing is interesting though. I have some homage watches that have almost doubled in value the last 5 years. Cheers
