I've come to the conclusion that people like us who use Eneloop rechargeable batteries most of the time aren't doing a damn thing to help the environment. It's a placebo effect. Until China cleans up their act, it's absolutely pointless. Ditto with recycling. It's all a virtue signalling scam, because this stuff gets thrown in a landfill or sent to Asia anyway. For me, it's easier to recharge most of the time, but there are still some devices that I use traditional alkaline batteries on.
Worry more about Taylor Swift's private jet or Leonardo DiCaprio's yacht than someone throwing away a handful of batteries per year

Quote from AlexS2465 :
At this point there's so many rechargeable lights on the market as well as tools that these might be worth only for remotes or something. Smoke detectors have either sealer 10yr batteries now or work off 120V (commercial/industrial sector) and back up systems, and for those that do still on AA then lithium ones are much better option still.
Just using older style smoke detectors as an example but if you want to split hairs I hardly doubt a 40 year old apartment building or someone who owns a bunch of single wide trailers is gutting drywall to wire install modern smoke detectors or buying 10 year models with sealed batteries (however for renos or new construction that is very common though). And agencies such as police departments tend to still favor disposable batteries in place of rechargeables for flashlights, thermals, etc because they are changed on a set schedule regardless of if they need replacement. Not to mention anyone who works in HVAC (my field) or electricians who have a dozen tools and meters that still use AA's and probably aren't recharging on their van.

So....plenty of things still use AA batteries beyond remotes. Otherwise Home Depot and Lowes wouldn't sell them by the pallet in 24-48 packs Wink

Very bad for the environment.

It should be a law that you have to keep all old dead batteries in your house.

I'm in for a set.
Still working with Harmony remotes, battery motion & backup interior lights, and wireless mice.
So maybe this could end up being a 3 year supply for us? Well see. 5 yr shelf life?
I will hold Amazon to that promise!

Update: I changed the order to these instead (1 day sale (cheaper per battery):

Amazon Basics 150-Pack AAA Alkaline Industrial Batteries, 1.5 Volt, 5-Year Shelf Life @ $19.09 w/ %5 S&S +tax
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasi...VG7CJ&th=1

$14 more for 50 more batteries, neh I pass & stick with the lower 150 ct instead.
Or if you want even more batteries, try this:

Amazon Basics 250-Pack AAA Alkaline Industrial Batteries, 1.5 Volt, 5-Year Shelf Life $32.83 w 5% S&S (cheaper per battery also)
