The SN740 IS 2230 form factor. It's the only one my steam deck naturally supports. What are you even on about?

You can pre-order this direct from Sabrent. I got a popup offering a 10% coupon for signing up for their newsletter. No sales tax with free shipping. $197.99 out the door.

2230 is an industry standard, and not just for the steam deck. Before the deck, it was mostly used in some Dell laptops (and maybe others). It is gaining popularity with its use in handheld gaming devices, and even the upcoming ROG Ally uses this form factor. Yes, I wish device manufacturers stuck with 2280, but this is similar to the full size SD vs micro SD debate. Eventually, everyone moves to the smaller formats whether we like it or not.

2TB WD SN740 is $141 on aliexpress right now and it uses toshiba/kioxia's latest 112L TLC memory.

why would you buy this QLC garbage for $80 more? am i missing something or are people just not bothering doing any research?

I could have used this in my last computer because the head of the screw broke off in my second ( of 2) NVMe SSD slot so that slot became useless except for 2230 format drives which I looked into but those were all 500 mbps speed. What is the speed on this product .

I was going to order that, but it's aliexpress.

1.) likely a month in shipping time or more
2.) Impossible returns
3.) High chance of getting scammed

I'm doing some research right now that tells me buying anything expensive from aliexpress is a huge gamble.

Full size SD cards aren't going anywhere because that is still the most widely used storage format in cameras. Aside from top of the line cameras which use CFexpress cards, 99 times out of 100 it'll be an SD card slot. And yes while there are adapters, nobody wants to deal with another potential point of failure during a professional shoot.

Ouch. That is still way too expensive.

I just bought the 2TB WD SN740 from AliExpress for $140. It's working great.
Sn740 is a DRAMless nvme. Not really comparable...

So is this Sabrent Rocket Q4 2230.......or do you have some secret knowledge about this Sabrent drive that even Sabrent doesn't know to list on their website for it? I suspect you made the same exact mistake as the other goofballs in this thread who keep looking at the specs of the 2280 drives, not understanding that these are different drives.
This is almost double the price for the essentially the same thing.

oh, you think this has DRAM? are you an NPC who just reposts random lines you saw on similar threads?

this uses a phison PS5021-E21T controller, which doesn't support DRAM at all.

What other benefit is there to this SSD aside from it being a small form factor for it to cost this much compared to its larger counterparts that seem to be taking a nosedive in pricing?

These 2230 drives as far as I've seen, seem to top out at ~4W power draw whereas higher end 2280 drives seem to go up to 8-10W.

This is no different than xbox proprietary storage cards. I know I know form factor this form factor that. Still too expensive, specially considering 980 pro and sn850x 2tb being round 130-150 these days
"I know I know"

Proceeds to make it clear they don't know at all.
