You missed it at the end of last summer. Walmart had the 800 for this price. It is sitting in my garage waiting for assembly.

I wish! I did get the 800 for this price at the end of last summer! My luck started with getting the 560 to review when it was prerelease. We still have it and other than replacing a few parts, it's still going strong - 3ish years later.

Also waiting for the 800 to drop.

But it has had me thinking about just getting a digital smoker and a griddle. I think I prefer flat top burgers/hot dogs/steak better than charcoal. Then I can just smoke ribs+chicken in the digital. And it's cheaper if the 800 doesn't drop! Sorry, rambling...
Keep an eye on Woot. I got the Cuisinart 360 Griddle for cheaper than it sells on Amazon and cheaper than the smaller version. If you want to search Woot, you have to use Google and add "Woot" to the search term. Woot does not have a search feature on the website. I have no idea why not. Amazon owns it now and you can find some really good deals but they go fast!

The 900 is $650 in store at Costco. Picked one up and it's great.

Saw that. Didn't want to pay extra for the pizza oven. I have an uuni that will get hotter. Does it eat up fuel on high temp?

Too small? I only have two humans and one dog to feed. No need to smoke 20lbs of meat at once.
I'm with you. I have a family of four and it's just fine for my purposes. I actually created (out of two grates) another "level" for meat to sit on, so between the extra level I can get 2 full packer briskets in there, or 3 full racks of ribs, or a crap ton of wings etc. when I need to smoke.

I could definitely see how grilling for a party or something like that would be pretty annoying if you want to get everything done in one shot. I don't mind splitting my burgers and then my hot dogs after, but preference.

I see where they're coming from... if we're having a party, it's not too hard for me to max out the area on my Woodwind SG24. Smoking food is a long endeavor, it's not like grilling where you can cycle your food fast.

Anyways, back on topic... I have an MB560. It's OK. Small side, you're only getting a couple big steaks on it, but probably a fair number of hamburgers and hot dogs and such. It is very easy to run, which I appreciate... learning to light the charcoal is a bit of a skill, but you get the hang of it eventually. I do all my smoking on the aforementioned Woodwind, so I just use the MB560 for grilling and searing. It does get crazy hot (700f) which I love.
I couldn't sell my pellet grill fast enough after getting the 560... it's an amazing smoker that can grill as well. The results from smoking are far better from charcoal and/or wood than what a pellet grill can achieve. It's plenty big enough for us, I can't imagine needing more space for a smoker.

I currently have a Recreq 700 and am intrigued by the idea of grilling/smoking/griddle on one device. I see a lot of negative reviews about the plastic components in this melting. Does anyone have any insights into this machine and how well it works?

I started with a Masterbuilt "box" smoker and it worked for while but just died one day, causing me to move to the Recteq (which I love by the way).

So it begins, the battle for the Masterbuilt 800... it took me 2 years trying until we got ours. It is amazing!
I'm going on about 8 months of trying to get an 800. I thought I was successful at one point, scoring one for $400 from Costco, but it delivered damaged and Costco removed the 800 from their listings, instead making up their own "Masterbuilt Gravity Series 900" which is just the 800 with a pizza oven added to it. But because of this change in listing, they couldn't replace my damaged 800, and only gave me a refund for returning it.

So I still wait.

I have a fairly small wooden deck and vinyl siding. How bad of an idea would this be?

Does this have more surface area than the Weber 22"? I would love to try this.

This is exactly where I'm at. Currently have a 560 and a Blackstone. The 560 is getting a bit rough after three years so contemplating replacement. The larger units offer some nice quality of life upgrades (shelf, hooks, etc) but they will also use more fuel. The only times I've been concerned about the room in a 560 is during large turkey smoking, over 4 racks of ribs, full packer brisket over 17lbs.
It's not on good condition after 3 years? That's a real bummer.

Got the 1050 for this same price from HD years back. Love it and just used it to do 3 racks of pork ribs today. Fist size or larger chunks of wood get mixed in with the charcoal. Ease of pellet with flavor of a stick burner. Jacking from smoking temps up to searing temps in seconds for finishing / crystallizing sauces, enhancing burnt ends, or doing picanha properly makes it highly versatile. Hope this grill continues to last. Only issues I've had are with intermittent Wi-Fi connectivity which I really don't use anyway.
