Oh ok, I don't have Chase anymore. That's $265 is $15 cheaper than the Sapphire 6700 non xt that I have on the way. You had me thinking that I needed return it and get the xt model for cheaper. Probably just as well anyhow, I don't feel like going through all that at this point. I've held the line long enough LMAO

Excellent! Thank you my friend 🤩 Just signed up and got my coupon. Now to figure out where the closest Micro Center is 😂

BTW - I'm stuck with a proprietary 400w HP power supply in my built-in Pavilion gaming desktop. Been using an RX 5500 paired with a Ryzen 5 5600G (came that way…) and it's ok, but I'm tempted to try the 'use an external PSU for the graphics card' hack for this slick deal 🧐 Especially since I game on an hdmi connected 75" 4k tv with friends watching/tied in on Zoom, so it can get kind of graphic intensive and lag a little during fast paced portions.
Apparently the tg-01 power supply can handle this 6650xt

Nice! Just searching if the hp machine is using ATX standard. If so you can just swap the PSU for something at retail
I wish! I found this in an HP forum:
'These are all series units, the TP01, TE01, TG01, and M01. The HP PSU is proprietary. A standard (retail) ATX PSU has a 24 pin main power plug, and a 4/8 auxiliary power plug. You can not use an ATX PSU in these HP machines. It will not wire/plug into the motherboard.
If you were to trace the wiring from the existing PSU, you would see there are 2 x2 power plugs and a inline 7 pin power plug. Some PSU units also have a PCIe6 or PCIe6+2 power plug for a video card. The only 500W PSU that will work is the L05757-800, parts sites costs about $200. (They only make 180W, 310W, 400W, and 500W that work with these HP computers).'
Booooo! 😭

Really? 😮 I checked a few sites and found sustained power consumption of the 5500 at 134w https://www.techpowerup.com/revie...00/31.html but the 6650xt is capable of spikes up to 286w https://www.techpowerup.com/revie...-x/35.html. With my 65w CPU I'm at 351, leaving only 49w left for hard drive(s), ram, fans, etc. seems a bit too close for comfort for me. I don't want to risk frying my integrated PSU, replacement of this proprietary unit would run about $200 from what I've seen.

I have the MSI version of this card, if the Radeon overlay is correct mine uses around 187w peak, hope this helps someone, nice card, a lot stronger than the 1660s it replaced.

Is this card better than intel ARC 750?
Quote from wolve3 :
If you play only newer games, either should be fine. But if you play anything 5+ years old, you are better off with a Radeon or Geforce card.
Also worth highlighting that the Intel ARC is only maximized in a motherboard which can support PCIe 4.0 and Resizeable BAR. An older platform can significantly limit the performance available from the Intel ARC series (recommending NVIDIA and AMD cards for such systems).

Good luck!

Have you considered switching over to an NVIDIA card? AMD video cards in the last few generations seem to have been consistently less power efficient for a given performance tier than their NVIDIA competition, which is a primary challenge for a power-limited system like yours. Though a power supply hack is its own kind of fun, you could similarly shop one of the newest model RTX 3050 cards (for example) whose power consumption is comparable to your existing RX 5500 (around 110W or 115W max) while still representing a solid performance upgrade.

Good luck!

Is this still a good price even if you don't qualify for the $25 new customer discount?

Can you use a friend's coupon if you order/reserve online using your own name (looks like coupon needs to be redeemed in store)?

This segment. The new 7600. And 6600 xt are all in a price bracket that makes sense now. Anyone building a pc or upgrading a pc doesn't need to spend crazy money now. Yay everyone who can do it

I have an RTX 3050 and it really sucks. These rx 6600 are way faster sadly. The 3050 pulls 135w so either way he would be in the same boat.

There isn't much difference between 135 and 165 for a limited system. Your running a dedicated power supply at that point

I do agree that concerns around power are a non-issue when employing a dedicated GPU power supply setup. However, I was simply attempting to recommend an option which could avoid such an implementation while also providing a reasonable improvement for the cost from the baseline RX 5500.

The 3050 received a refresh in December which changed the die and lowered the maximum power rating... though without altering core counts from the die as launched at release, making distinguishing it by anything other than TDP more challenging.

https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidi...onsumption

Models based upon the newer die don't seem widely available, but are documented and could be a worthwhile option for those with restrictive power supplies.

https://us.msi.com/Graphics-Card/...cification

For a system reliably supporting a 110W card today, and in particular one using an OEM 400W power supply (in contrast to some larger and potentially more premium unit), I'd suggest that a 30W or more difference is reasonably significant unless the system's power peak power draw and the limits of the given power supply can both be directly quantified. Put another way, I would not personally want to add the potential for more power draw to a power capacity-restricted system without knowing exactly how much available power budget was available in such a system.

Good luck!
Jon

Make sure to reserve one online if stock is low and you can't get to the store for a while - they'll hold it for you - not sure how long, but I think it's a couple days at least. There are 3 at my local MC (PHL Saint David's) - I suspect they'll be gone by dinnertime. Smilie

I just bought the 6600 from MC a few days ago for $200, but I went back and got this instead. $20 seems worth it for the speed increase (although they lowered the price of the 6600 also). My only gripe with this card is that it's kind of ugly.

I was able to combine this with $25 off. $207 out the door. Thanks OP!
