Not that this is a bad price or this is a bad monitor, but I feel like if you are shopping for a monitor of this caliber and paying 900, you might as well go a little further and go for the QD-OLED. I guess this is specifically for the small group that want the 38 inch size.

There 4 aspects of a monitor: Pixel density, color reproduction, refresh rate, size.
Everyone has different order of these 4 aspects.
I have been using a 4k 160hz monitor for 3 year. Still waiting for a 27inch 5k 240hz panel, or a small size 5k 240hz ultrawide.

You are kind of saying the same thing as me I think. If you really want a 38 inch monitor then this is a good one, but otherwise (refresh rate, respond time, color reproduction, etc) the 34 inch QD-OLED is superior in other aspects for 100-200 more. Not that 100-200 is pocket change but for someone dabbling in this price range, it's probably worth it.

I have and like this monitor. The selling point for me was the 1600 lines of vertical resolution. 1440 is too short. So is 1600 but at the time I couldn't find a better monitor with as much or more vertical resolution.
I may upgrade when someone comes out with a ~40" OLED 4k monitor that is a real monitor and not a TV. Until then...this one suited me the best.
I really wish someone would make a monitor with this size and resolution using a QD-OLED or OLED panel. IMO this is the ideal combination of physical size, pixel density, and screen real estate. With all the bells and whistles like high refresh rate, HDMI 2.1, etc., it would sell like hot cakes and I would personally pay a premium for it.

He's sort of saying that, but while the standard 34" UW is 3440x1440, this one is 3840x1600. So even though it is 4 inches larger it has a very similar pixel density.
Now if they just make one of these in QD-OLED at this resolution I'm there. Since I already have a 3440x1440 @144Hz (though VA) it's not worth spending more money just to get the same thing in QD-OLED without further upgrades.

I had a choice between 34" QD OLED and a 38" IPS (Got the LG, but same panel as this one).
Was an easy call for me to pick up the 38"
38" Pros vs QD OLED:
+20% Larger screen (think 32" vs 27" for standard screens)
+0 Burn in Risk
+Significantly Brighter for full-screen content, better bright room visibility
+No Fan/Noise (some QD OLEDs have active fans which bother some buyers)
+Better Sub-pixel Layout for reading text/productivity work
+Similar DPI, but MORE pixels (3820x1600 vs 3440x1440) fits more content on screen.
38" Cons vs QD OLED:
-Significantly worse HDR performance (can't beat OLED contrast)
-Slower total Response time (although still extremely fast)
-Slower Pixel Response time (more motion blur compared to OLED)
-Worse Viewing Angles
There is definitely a case for the QD OLED, it's not an easy call. I wouldn't write these off as quickly as some people are though. The size alone was reason enough for me to skip over the QD OLED.
I would love to pay hundreds more for a 38" QD OLED @ 3820x1600 or even more for a 42" QD OLED at 5120x2160 or whatever. Those are many many years out, no OLED panels in those sizes are even in the pipeline right now at the display manufactures. This screen will last me the next 5-10 years after which I will grab the larger QD OLED.

If they made a 38" 1600p QD-OLED, sure. They don't though.
I own this monitor and if you want a massive ultrawide, I don't think you can do better (for now). That said 48" OLEDs are in this price range too, which was the other choice I was kicking around. Still not totally sure I made the right choice but I've been happy, and I paid more.

I was in the same situation last year. I spent a whole 3 hours at best buy sitting in front of the 48" OLED, bring a ruler with me and sitting 24-30" away. I tried to talk myself into that I will get used to the monstrous size. Which I was totally uncomfortable with at the very first moment.
I found out that I have to make conscious effort to move my head side to side, up and down to catch the corner of the screen. Plus I was getting nauseated due to the massive size.
Ultimately I decided to go with this monitor for $1200 back the. It was a perfect upgrade from my 34" UW, the additional 4" adds great depth to immersiveness to the game and movies and the size is just right for me. I will try 40-42" if they are available in future, but I think that is pushing it for a monitor.

That is a VERY small group who would want such a very small monitor! Once you've gone 49" you'll never accept less ( and of course you'll always want more).

I did sit in front of an oled for 3 hours straight in my local best buy. The picture quality from OLED was gorgeous, however, I am willing to compromise color in favor of size. I also respect if anyone prefer oled color over the bigger size. Although the 34" oled specs are better, it also made a huge trade off in size. With that said, I think it is a fair choice between the two monitors. My next upgrade would definitely be an OLED UW, 38-42" once it exists for around $1200-1500.
