Nice… just got an A4A. Yamaha is my favorite of the home theatre receivers. Don't need this and don't have this kind of money for it right now, but it's tempting. If you need this, this is the best price goung right now.

I gotta remove my sd alert for 9.2 after buying the (clearly inferior) onkyo 9 channel amp from adorama to replace a 7 channel yamaha. NO RAGERRRRTS! (I have regrets).
It was a step down in stereo sound from my denon 4308ci which is just about thr sweetest sounding receiver ever produced for vinyl... but you can't go wrong with this. The price is crazy. Movies come alive!

Same. Still have a Yamaha 992 bought in 1998 powering my stereo.
Rx-a8a is more in line with the 3080 as they are both the flagship receivers. This is in line with the 2080.
That's one way to look at it, another way is how much amp you are getting. The A6A is actually beefier than the 3080's amp section. The 47lb A8A is actually the heaviest receiver Yamaha has put out since 2008 when their flagship was the 73lb RX-Z11.
Although nobody does this in a vacuum, Yamaha released the A8A because the competition (Onkyo and Denon) have been releasing bigger flagships recently as well. For a good 10 year period after the financial crisis in 2009 amp section of receivers were shrunk down significantly to cut down production costs, so its nice to see bigger flagships coming back.
