I don't think you're the only one who gets heavy things delivered by the delivery person.. He/she will understand.

I ordered two 55s a few months back and Wal Mart sent four 35s. It was a complete pain in the ass trying to get their customer service to sent two return shipping labels, probably literally 8-10 different requests to their customer service at 20 minutes each.

I've never had good luck buying from WalMart online but anything bulky isn't worth the hassle in my experience. Of course this was just a single incident and you probably won't be as unlucky as I am.

I get this. I have the Yes4All 200lb adjustable dumbbell set just for random lifts like shrugs. I'd rather own individual 70's, 80's, 90's, and 100's, then add some magnetic 2.5lb add on plates to get the 5lb increments but it's an easy $1k and hard to justify.
Adjustable dumbells are very expensive. I wanted ironmaster but they were always sold out during covid and too pricey.

I've made due with stage 3 powerblock elites.

The ones OP posted should be fine for the average person or someone just starting their home/garage gym.

OP is me. Yeah I agree adjustable dumbbells are really expensive if they have enough weight to justify their use. I have 5-50 and 60lbs (ordered) hex dumbbells now which covers most exercises. For the random others that need more weight I have the adjustable ones.

Am I correct in thinking these deals come frequently, for these heavier weight sets, or am I mistaken and need to "get it while it's hot?"

How are these packed for shipping? Double boxed? Do they arrived undamaged?

I have ordered Amazon Basics dumbbells multiple times and they are always packed very well - double boxed - two heavy boxes - with foam around the dumbbells. The only issue with Amazon Basics dumbbells is they always need a solid 2-3 months in the garage to get the smell to dissipate.
They arrive in regular thin cardboard boxes that end up getting completely destroyed in transit, but the weights are fine inside. I have ordered 40s, 50s, and 60s from Walmart, and all arrived in perfect shape but damaged boxes. 40s were each 39.1lbs, 50s each 50.7lbs, 60s were the only ones imbalanced by a little (one 60.7, the other 60.1). So far really happy with them. So much easier to use than adjustable dumbbells, and also a lot more rugged. While I never drop the weights hard, I also don't have to worry about carefully setting them down like I would for solid metal weights or adjustable dumbbells (I don't have rubber mats in my garage).

Would have liked to get a pair of 100lbs for shrugs and flat bench. My powerblocks only go to 90.
Does your wife spot you? I have a hell of a time getting 80s down lightly. I don't drop weights.

Just putting this out there, you can get a similar ROM with a trap bar or a rickshaw. I bought a rickshaw last year and I love it for shrugs and deadlifts.

For the heavier ones, not as frequently. You can find them for $1/lb but with huge shipping costs from random other fitness sites when on sale. Fray Fitness is one example which is less than $1/lb for the ones remaining in stock but shipping costs are pretty astronomical unless you live close and can pickup. Walmart has had these come in and out of stock for a month or two, but who knows if they'll keep stocking them or if they're just clearing the pandemic fitness goods from their warehouses slowly.

But from what I read elsewhere 60-70lbs is as far as you want to take it with CAP brand because they start to have bending issues with the ultra heavy hex dumbbells anyways. So this is a good stopping point in weight for this brand.

I always have to order in separate orders for weights. They don't "move" too well while in store for Walmart. Don't excuse the pun. Please laugh

No. I have to rock back upright or put pads beneath so I don't damage my powerblocks or mat. Wife is 4'11" and 100lbs. She isn't helping haha.

I used to work at UPS. Weights are packages so terribly sometimes. It was always a gamble grabbing those boxes. That being said, 60 lbs isn't heavy for your mail carrier. They deliver stuff that heavy all day long.

You might get imbalanced weights and can't exchange them. I weight-scaled about 30 of them in-store and some were below or over 1-2lbs the correct amount. The manager at my local Walmart doesn't let me exchange them because online, they are sold as "2-pack" or "pairs", and they "only sell them as singles in store". And of course, they won't price match because of the same reason. These are a pain to return.. Just some stuff to keep in mind.
I would just order multiples of the same set till I get the weight accuracy that I want. Then return the rest. More work obviously but then you get a "good quality" set for the price of a cheap set.
