Apple now allows you to extend AppleCare on a monthly basis. That pays for a battery and greatly adds to the life.
My wife's Hermes Apple Watch 3 year warranty expired 3 months ago. I took the monthly extension at 5.99 a month. Her battery then went below 80%. I took it to Apple. They don't replace batteries on the Hermes. They sent her a brand new Hermes, no charge. It was identical to my wife's series 5 Hermes.
