Your take away from this video from FOMO is odd as hell. It is getting nothing but mostly praise and you had the exact opposite reaction? Weird take but okay. And the keyword is you are watching a monitor that is being livestreamed over the internet, you are not going to see what they see, that is why people watch. To hear what they have to say opinion wise while getting a tease of the actual tv's.
I've got the 65" and I really like the TV. Upscaling is better than what I was expecting, since I watch a shit load of SD/shitty cable content. I'm coming from a 60" KS8000, so I'm not the best example/comparison. That, and I haven't tried any DV/HDR content yet. I had ordered a C2, but was worried about brightness because the room the TV is in gets really bright. This TV obviously doesn't have any issues with brightness. Watching Gunsmoke a few minutes ago and the brightness was only at 29 lol. Clint Eastwood movie now (in color instead of black and white like Gunsmoke) and it's at 26.

At these prices, I'd give it a shot and see if the issues are tolerable. But you could probably wait and see if the DV/HDR10 issues are fixed/made better, and this price will probably be back a few more times over the next few months. And like others have said, keep an eye on the thread over at AVS!
1) Google TV is great.
2) Ignoring #1, you could buy a Roku stick for like $25 and be right back to using that if needed. The platform the TV is running on is rarely a reason to buy it or not, especially not at the high end.

Never thought I'd see the day where a TCL TV hit the $2k mark. LOL

Early impressions are hyping this one up as the best mini LED available. As I said in the post, full reviews aren't in yet though so buyer beware

It's definitely good hardware. I'd expect their processing to be on-par with everyone other than Sony. They're likely to accept tighter margins for a gen or 2 in order to position themselves as a more high end manufacturer with the public. Discounting off the bat is an interesting move though. A lot of times that turns into a downward spiral. They'll need to actually perform and rely on hype/press coverage and community feedback. It isn't OLED though so realistically, they need to stay below that price I guess.

Is this the sucessor to the 655 or is it a step above?

I guess it depends on how you look at the situation.

Hisense (their main competitor) tries to position their 65" 8 series flagship at around $1000. They do some funky things with pricing where the MSRP is $1250 & the "everyday low price" is $1000…but for the end user you basically expect to get 65" flagship for $1000.

TCL uses different naming conventions but this is their mini LED flagship, so I could see it getting down closer to $1000 once Hisense's U8K is released.

The TCL appears to be superior this year though, at least in terms of specs.

Almost 3x the dimming zones I think on the 65. Inky blacks etc. Google TV rather than Roku. More like a 2-3 gen leap than a little better. well, pending real reviews

There are issues with the 85" TV right now so id wait to see what is happening with that first.

See AVS owners forum on this TV for info.

I'm not super familiar with TCL's naming conventions, but I believe their 6 series had the flagship in 2022, whereas QM8 is the flagship in 2023.

I believe they've restructured their naming convention in 2023 to align with Hisense's 6/7/8 series structure, as that is their main competitor. The QM8 would be an 8 series/flagship TV in that setup.

From what I've heard, QM8 is TCL's only mini LED TV in 2023. Hisense on the other hand is pushing mini LED tech to their 6/7/8 series across the board.

The QM8 appears to beat Hisense's upcoming U8K (8 series) in terms of specs though, aside from the lack of ATSC 3.0 TV tuner built in to the Hisense (& missing on the TCL).

Yep, I've seen those reports. The 85" is sold out at Best Buy, so I didn't think it was worth including it in the main post.

I see companies latching on to the "mini led" terminology, but when is the "micro led" tvs gonna start hitting the market and pushing oled tvs down in price?

Think we're still a ways off on that. An article from earlier this year lists a 110" microLED display at $100k.

main question is how the TCL 75 preform against the 77 B2 or 77 C2 or are the LG worth the extra money ?
