Picked up one from Lowes 2 weeks back when it was on sale at this price. Overall happy with it - it's light, powerful, and the battery lasts a long time. The only gripes I have is that it's hard to control when fully extended (which is expected) and that you need to manually oil the chains which gets annoying after a while.

What do you mean by manually oil? Does it not have little tank that you fill up?

I purchased this the day I saw the deal. I was also surprised it required manual oiling, but it's true. It actually caused me to hesitate a bit. I decided to bite only because I'm heavily invested in the V20 ecosystem.

The saw comes with a small squeeze bottle you fill with bar/chain oil and apply as needed. Surprisingly, it doesn't come with any bar/chain oil either.

I literally just came inside from prepping 5 small-to-medium-sized evergreen trees for felling. It zipped quickly through the limbs. I went through one 4.0Ah battery and started on another.

I'm quite happy with it so far. The only thing I don't like is that the connections between the segments don't offer a lot stability. The threaded ends are all held on with two rivets opposite one another. I think this causes the connections to wiggle a little along the riveted axis. I think it's solid enough, but doesn't really instill any confidence in the robustness of the tool.

You think there is anything comparable out there that is better? A small chainsaw on a long pole, how can it be improved?

Lowe's also has a comparable Kobalt model on sale for the same price. The Kobalt has slightly better rating (4.4 vs 4.3 for the Crafstman) and adds an automatic chain lubrication.

EDIT: Kobalt is 24v vs 20v for Craftsman. I'm not sure if this makes any difference but thought I'd mention it. However, the battery included with Kobalt is 2 Ah while Craftsman is 4 Ah.

Better if it can be had cheaper. I wish there was a dual power pole saw.

The Kobalt states it is brushless 🤔

I've owned one of these for 3 years or so. Used it on and off during that time. It does a good job and works as intended. Cuts through limbs pretty quick and it has this lip that sticks out on the bottom to catch the limb incase the chain starts to pull you.

Only gripes is the manual oiling. (Which isn't that big of a deal as I have NEVER oiled it and it has worked as intended with all the original parts still in place.)

And the other gripe is the extension. It's not that sturdy. It'll get the job done but you'll have to kinda "saw" with the chainsaw to cut a decent size limb that's thicker than 3 or 4 inches.

I can't compare it to anything else on the market as this one has fulfilled my needs.

Think I might get the kobalt one. Been needing a pole saw as I use a manual saw to limb up hour hunting lands... This will make things easier

Get a gas powered one, electric ones are too too heavy making it more of a PITA to use. If only needed for short term go rent a gas powered vs buy something that'll sit in your garage unused.

Heavy? That's not true at all. This one's weighs in at just under 7 lbs with the battery attached.

Gas powered ones start at 11-12 lbs and go up a few lbs after that depending on which make you get.

Obviously you haven't used a battery powered one before. I've used both gas and battery on and off for years. But like the gas powered ones since they're a little more sturdy.
