As an owner of this and the quinn torque wrenches. I would personally recommend the quinn from harbor freight over this one every time. Rhe user interface is way better on the quinn and knowing when you hit the target torque by audio is also much more accurate.

I'll deal with the extra hassle of click type torque wrenches for their lifetime warranty. I may consider digital if I ever build an engine or something with lots of different torque requirements

Gearwrench has 1 year warranty for digital vs lifetime warranty for their click type torque wrenches.

Also Harbor Freight has 90 day warranty on digital vs lifetime warranty for their click type.

Same here, thought it was time to move to digital and that video made it a hard pass for me too.

Good deal, this is about what I paid for it in 2020 and I've been very happy with it.

Just an FYI for anyone that buys any electronic torque wrench - use some good LSD type rechargeable batteries. Alkaline battery leaks are bad enough, but dealing with a leak in the deep well of a torque wrench handle (where the AA batteries are often located) can be a true PITA.

I would consider this a digital torque wrench, not an electric one. When I saw the headline, I was thinking when did Gearwrench start making electric tools.

I wanted to add another note. I have a number of torque wrenches, including an electronic (1/4") Gearwrench, but I've noticed that a lot of torque wrenches use low tooth count gear mechanisms... like a 32 or 36 tooth (even expensive ones, such as couple year old Snap-on's).

One thing I've noticed when working on cars is that if you're using any torque wrench, but especially a larger 1/2" torque wrench, and esp if you're using a 6 point socket, your angle of tooth engagement really becomes limited. I was recently doing a front brake/rotor job on a KIA and was using an older Snap-on 3/8" digital torque wrench... I was trying to torque the disc brake caliper bracket mounting bolts (around 65 ft lbs) and really noticed that when you're using a 6 pt socket, a low tooth count torque wrench really limits the amount of swing you have before the torque wrench either hits the ground or hits the outside of the wheel well.

The above said, what's nice about this Gearwrench in the OP... even though a 72 tooth mech may not sound like a lot -- it's a bigger deal for torque wrenches, which many still use very low 32/36 tooth gear mechanicals. A 72 tooth would engage with just 5 degrees of swing.

How did you clean out the leak?

Wait, that was supposed to be a hypothetical! JK - yeah, it happened to me with my expensive Snap-On Tech Angle torque wrench. I about cried. The good news was that most of the leakage was on the bottoms of the alkaline batts - and not the tops... and you drop the (3 AA) batts into the shaft button top down, first. So, most of the mess was on the bottom.

If you do get leakage deep down into that well (and, again, my Snappy uses 3 AA's, so the well is quite deep)... you can spray some silicone spray inside and maybe use one of those long bottle cleaner brushes, and/or uses a small piece of high grit sandpaper or emery cloth and stick a Phillips head screwdriver (a long one) in there to rub it around. If the sandpaper gets stuck, then just use one of those long metal grabber pick-up tools to get it out. Best to just avoid this altogether and use higher quality LSD NiMh rechargeables...

With a sample size of one, he found his particular Gearwrench calibration to be a little low. He should've returned it or had them recalibrate it. For one wrench to be a bit off here and there probably happens to all brands and is precisely why they have the calibration guarantee.

Probably on sale to offload inventory because the reviews have been so bad on these. Went through two of them before I jumped online and confirmed I wasted my money.

Thumbs down for "not a good product."
