One thing I've noticed when working on cars is that if you're using any torque wrench, but especially a larger 1/2" torque wrench, and esp if you're using a 6 point socket, your angle of tooth engagement really becomes limited. I was recently doing a front brake/rotor job on a KIA and was using an older Snap-on 3/8" digital torque wrench... I was trying to torque the disc brake caliper bracket mounting bolts (around 65 ft lbs) and really noticed that when you're using a 6 pt socket, a low tooth count torque wrench really limits the amount of swing you have before the torque wrench either hits the ground or hits the outside of the wheel well.
The above said, what's nice about this Gearwrench in the OP... even though a 72 tooth mech may not sound like a lot -- it's a bigger deal for torque wrenches, which many still use very low 32/36 tooth gear mechanicals. A 72 tooth would engage with just 5 degrees of swing.
If you do get leakage deep down into that well (and, again, my Snappy uses 3 AA's, so the well is quite deep)... you can spray some silicone spray inside and maybe use one of those long bottle cleaner brushes, and/or uses a small piece of high grit sandpaper or emery cloth and stick a Phillips head screwdriver (a long one) in there to rub it around. If the sandpaper gets stuck, then just use one of those long metal grabber pick-up tools to get it out. Best to just avoid this altogether and use higher quality LSD NiMh rechargeables...
