Uses:
Some generators which have the smaller round L5-30r 120 volt 30 amp twist lock outlet.
Most light duty 120 V generators have the TT travel trailer flat blade 30 amp outlet which is annoying. Vibration causes TT plugs to come loose on generators. As the plug becomes loose the resulting surges can damage the generator or connected equipment. If you have this problem you may be able to replace the TT receptacle on your generator with a L5-30 receptacle.
OR, for you generator with a TT outlet:
Cut off the L5-30P and replace with this 30 amp TT plug, This one is of good quality and easy to wire with built-in strain relief: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013GGAD24/
Leave 6" of wire on the cut off L5 plug for re-use.

champion 4-blade twist/lock cables going back. 2 sets of adapters would run about $30 or about $7.50 an adapter. then there is always the chance of overheat and fire at adapters. grrrr.

For generators which only have the 30 amp 120V TT receptacle it is worth changing that out for a L5-30 so this cord can be used. Much better than using a bunch of adapters or running multiple cords to the duplex outlets.

im still learning all about generators and right now i have no plans to wire in a transfer switch and buy a huge generator. id rather have 2 or even 3 smaller generators.
neighbors would absolutely love me with 3 fired up around the house and probably show up with their own extension cords in hand!
