For me i think the price on the g3 77 still needs to be a little lower to warrant buying it over both the cheaper g2 and soon to come sony a95l QD-OLED. The new sony will, without a doubt, be one of the best TVs ever made.
Is the G3 "better" than the G2? By all accounts, yes, as it's going to be much brighter, which is obviously great for movies and gaming. Outside of that though???? Mine is in a basement waiting to be mounted, so there's absolutely zero need for that difference at about $1500 of a price difference.
Set a deal alert and hopefully you too can catch one of these for that cheap. To note, that same day Costco/Sams were discounting the 77'' C2s for about $2700 + tax. Assuming I don't open my TV and it's all busted (well packed and well handled by CEVA) I feel I easily "won"
NOTE: overall, this is another case in life where you can either wait for a deal, or you can own it in the upcoming days and be happy for years. If someone was in the market for the G3, this would be a deal. If you were just browsing SD and saw this? Set a deal alert, as $4K ain't nothing to sneeze at. I'm going to be VERY happy with my G2 and hopefully won't replace it for about 5-8 years, similar to my C1 that I bought last year which still looks amazing in the sunlight
