Other World Computing has Apple Magic Keyboard for 12.9" iPad Pro (compatible w/ 3rd 4th, 5th*, 6th* Generation models, MXQU2LL/A) on sale for $179.99. Shipping is free.

Thanks to Community Member abangr for finding this deal.

Note: This keyboard is also fully functional with the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th and 6th generation), but due to the slightly thicker design (6.4mm vs. 5.9 mm) of those iPad models, users report that the cover will only partially close (will not close completely flat).

Key Features:
  • Full-size, backlit keys and a scissor mechanism with 1mm travel for quiet, responsive typing
  • Designed for Multi-Touch gestures and the cursor in iPadOS
  • Smooth angle adjustability delivers the perfect viewing angle
  • USB-C port for charging iPad Pro, freeing up the port on iPad Pro for other accessories
  • Folds into a case to provide front and back protection for traveling with iPad Pro
  • This Apple Magic Keyboard officially supports the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd and 4th generation) models with perfect fitment.

You might think this is still crazy expensive for a keyboard, and I agree it is. However I use the magic keyboard with my 11in iPad Pro and it's fully replaced almost all of my computing needs outside of work. An iPad + magic keyboard makes for an excellent little computer and it can do pretty much anything you could possibly need. There are some quirks and to deal with, but overall it's an excellent package.

How is this STILL so expensive? I just can't in good conscience spend nearly $200 for an accessory that only works for a 3 year old tablet, when that accessory could be practically replaced by a bluetooth keyboard and mouse I already have laying around.

It doesn't have issues closing with the 5th and 6th gen iPad Pro. I have been using this older Magic Keyboard with my 5th gen. iPad Pro for over two years without issue. Reviews and forum threads even confirm it is a non-issue.
Repped for your personal experience. I have seen conflicting reports so it's not just user error. There is clearly some user error and variants out there that cause the closing issue. Any idea your exact model? Is it the one listed here ? Thanks 👍

With the release of new products imminent it would seem that these old and current skus will see some downward pressure on prices.

Enjoy.

It is the same model: MXQU2LL/A. This was the only 12.9-in. model until the 5th gen. iPad Pro. There was discontent when Apple announced a new keyboard for the 5th gen. iPad Pro because those of us who already owned the keyboard would need to purchase a new one for the new iPad. However, real-world experience showed it's fully compatible.

"In the description of the video, the user says the iPad Pro model number is A2378 and the accessory model number is MXQU2LL/A to confirm that it's the fifth-generation iPad Pro and the 2020 Keyboard. The user sets up both products, adjusts the angle of the iPad on the Magic Keyboard, types, and closes it. As we can see in the video, everything looks just fine."

I even have a screen protector, and it still fits perfectly.

Walmart has the newer model (6th gen) for the same price, bestbuy will price match so will target, Walmart is available for in store pickup, hurry! its clearly a pricing error on Walmarts end by placing the newest model at this price. just search MJQL3LL/A

the magic keyboards are great but yeah the pricing is crazy. didn't see anyone else in the thread note it so i figured i'd mention- if you keep an eye out you can pretty easily buy these used for WAY WAY less than new price. they seem to depreciate much more aggressively than the ipads themselves. so if you want one but cant stomach almost $200 for a keyboard, keep an eye on ebay, facebook marketplace, and so on and you can probably find one for under half that price. you can also get a brand new generic magic keyboard for around $50 on aliexpress and they have great reviews.

It's pretty rare that something won't work properly on Safari AND Chrome for iPad. Usually requesting desktop mode will fix most issues. I haven't actually ran into an issue where a site fails to load in a long time.

If I do run into something like that I'll just grab my Macbook. I still have a normal laptop as well, but I just rarely use it unless I'm working on a personal programming project. I could use the iPad for that too but it's a little bit more cumbersome with that keyboard. But basically for all browsing, watching movies/shows, youtube, etc. I use my iPad.
