You forgot to mention the $1390 destination fee, $425 for wall connector, $230 for mobile charger, $250 non-refundable order fee.

Tesla Model 3 RWD starts at $40,240 but is now eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit (income limits apply). Previously, it was only eligible for $3,750. This makes the starting price $32,740 after tax credit.

Deal is even sweeter if you live in a state with additional credits:

VT: $26,320
MA: $26,830
PA: $27,330
RI: $27,820
DE: $27,820
NY: $28,320
CA: $28,330
CO: $28,330
CT: $29,030
ME: $29,320

Full tax credit details below, but the following income limits apply:

$300,000 for married couples filing jointly
$225,000 for heads of households
$150,000 for all other filers

NO IT DOES NOT.

Withholding is totally irrelevant to qualifying for the credit.

If you're unclear on this go read a 1040.

The part where you compute tax liability is lines 16 through 24.

THAT is where the $7500 EV credit comes off.

Your withholdings aren't even looked at until after that on line 25+

This is also not correct.

The Child Tax Credit is worth a maximum of $2,000 per qualifying child. Up to $1,600 is refundable for the 2023 tax year.

Refundable credits are computed AFTER non-refundable ones-- so the CTC is only "worth" $400 off your tax burden for these purposes- the $1600 left is refundable.

Thus if you had say $7900 in tax burden and one CTC and one EV credit, your tax burden would go to $0 and you'd get a full refund of the $1600 refundable part of the CTC

44k before you factor in the tax credit. Not yet. My Prius was 23k brand new. One of these or two Prius? Maybe once it can truly self drive.

This isn't entirely true.
Except, it is.

All 3 and Y qualify, all the way back to Jan 1.

The IRS website lists both as fully qualified, regardless of VIN or date.

Quote from boxturtle :
Tesla evidently rearranged their sourcing so that cars with batteries containing minerals from China are going to Canada instead of the U.S.
Also incorrect.

The cars diverted to Canada are built entirely in China.

Tesla has never sold Chinese built cars in the US, so they were not diverted from the US to Canada.

All Teslas ever sold in the US are built in the US.

Sending China built cars to Canada allows Tesla to retain more US built ones to sell inside the US.... but US built RWD 3s are continuing to use the same chinese batteries they have all year.

And all 3 and Ys built year to date qualify for the full $7500.

Quote from Kensic :
so how is tesla claiming these inventory LFP standard range M3s get the full 7500 credit?
A way was suggested back in page 1 or 2.

There's a specific provision in the law that allows you to average all cars of a given model from a given factory. And also allows you to average for shorter time periods.

Since the mineral and battery requirements are only 40% and 50% respectively in 2023, if the AVERAGE across the whole Fremont production (lots of which are using US made batteries) meets that requirement- they're good.

Combine this with the fact that that requirement only began April 18th, and you can see a path to enabling all cars this year to meet the requirement.

Next year? Unknow- especially since the percentages of non-Chinese stuff go up. It's possible they'll be able to do this again if 4680 production ramps really well and more spare 2170s become available, but it's unknown right now.

Which is why for those specifically wanting the RWD 3, the advice to "just wait till it's a point of sale credit in January" might cost them half the credit.

Only if looking at a higher end model or with several options.

Base price is 40k, and inventory ones are 37k- then any tax credits stack on top of that.

Is $37830 the cheapest model 3 in the recent months/years?

Why do these Tesla threads keep getting pushed back to the top of my deals?
Slickdeals has suppressed this from "for you" or "popular"

Only way to see it is to circumvent those and go to hot deals. Where every time anyone replies with anything, such as "I hate tesla", goes right back to the top

There's a lot of ranges of model 3s that have existed. LFP rwd has never been this cheap to my knowledge.

Itemizing deductible has no bearing on your federal tax liability and thus your federal tax credit. Solar programs rely on tax credits are exclusively for home owners and all home owners itemize. You are ignorant.

That being said, Plz don't buy a tesla. You're gonna complain about something like cost of electricity even though gas is much more expensive. I already know it.

You don't need both the $425 wall connector and the $230 mobile charger, you can just use one. I've been using the mobile charger for almost 5 years now, and just pack it up and take it with me on road trips.
The $250 non-refundable order fee is applied to your order, so not an extra charge. Only a factor if you cancel your order.

Seriously, you can google it.
You've had the car for 10 years and only changed the wipers and tires? Pretty impressive.

This kinda scared me that I had missed something in the maintenance of my 4 year old tesla. They mentioned $600 to $800 annually, then list the maintenance items. Tire Rotation every 6500 (Discounttire does this for free), Brake fluid quality test $25 every 2 years, Replace cabin air filter 2-3 years for $75. Tires as needed (probably 30-40k miles $1000. So my average after 4 years and 50k miles is $275 annually. How do you get to $800? Maybe putting 30k miles a year and having to replace tires often?

Unfortunately not, its really a simple cover space that happens to have a plug, doubt it's anything more than whatever bare minimum to have lights and run the door opener. I'll just plan to stop by a supercharger 1-2 a week depending on my weekend plans, I already do this at a gas station since my current car is getting ~20mpg.
You should be able to use the regular 120V wall outlet overnight to add about 3-4 miles per hour it's plugged in. If you're home for 12 hours a night, you could add 35-50 miles overnight. Combined with plugging in more hours during the weekend, you may not need to visit a SuperCharger at all, depending on how much you can plug in over the weekend.

Tesla originally had a maintenance schedule in their owner's manuals and offered a 2-year and 4-year service for a few hundred $$, but they quit suggesting that when they determined it wasn't really necessary. Name any other dealership that will suggest such a thing!

what town? do you live in the middle of nowhere?

i charge at superchargers most of the time, never had a line, admittedly i charge early morning or at night after going to the gym and i usually pick up some food to eat, im not one of the people who go shopping and leave the tesla there for an hour.
I'm surprised as soon as there is one supercharger where they see a line, someone will take a picture and it would make headline news. tbh I have once had to wait at an 8 station supercharger back in 2019 on a trip to florida and I had to wait about 5 minutes. I do quite a few < 10 hours trips a year (probably 8-10) and never have I seen a line waiting since then. If you give me the zip code, I can write some code to call an api and track the charger usage. I'd love to publish this charger that stays full for hours and hours.

Sometimes you can plug in at your work, even if it is 8 hours @ 120V, which could help greatly.
