You forgot to mention the $1390 destination fee, $425 for wall connector, $230 for mobile charger, $250 non-refundable order fee.

Tesla Model 3 RWD starts at $40,240 but is now eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit (income limits apply). Previously, it was only eligible for $3,750. This makes the starting price $32,740 after tax credit.

Deal is even sweeter if you live in a state with additional credits:

VT: $26,320
MA: $26,830
PA: $27,330
RI: $27,820
DE: $27,820
NY: $28,320
CA: $28,330
CO: $28,330
CT: $29,030
ME: $29,320

Full tax credit details below, but the following income limits apply:

$300,000 for married couples filing jointly
$225,000 for heads of households
$150,000 for all other filers

NO IT DOES NOT.

Withholding is totally irrelevant to qualifying for the credit.

If you're unclear on this go read a 1040.

The part where you compute tax liability is lines 16 through 24.

THAT is where the $7500 EV credit comes off.

Your withholdings aren't even looked at until after that on line 25+

This is also not correct.

The Child Tax Credit is worth a maximum of $2,000 per qualifying child. Up to $1,600 is refundable for the 2023 tax year.

Refundable credits are computed AFTER non-refundable ones-- so the CTC is only "worth" $400 off your tax burden for these purposes- the $1600 left is refundable.

Thus if you had say $7900 in tax burden and one CTC and one EV credit, your tax burden would go to $0 and you'd get a full refund of the $1600 refundable part of the CTC

The big difference will be HW4. This will include more and better cameras, radar, and more.

I know a lot of folks will say well I'm not going to use Full Self Driving so I don't need HW4, but unless you plan to keep the car forever, resale value will come into play at some point and HW3 will be worth a LOT less.

There is no retrofit to HW4 from HW3
This is what I'm waiting for.. if they put HW4 in the current model 3 like they did with the model y, I'm in.

Current HW4 cars actually have fewer cameras- but they're higher resolution ones (they reduced the # of front-facing cams from 3 to 2)
I guess that depends on if you count the dummy camera as a camera or not.

So is your recommendation to buy HW3?

I mean you are pretty much buying a Tesla for the tech, that has been established as the build quality and materials are mediocre at best, so why would you buy a "tech" car with old tech?

People will regret this"deal" at trade-in or resale time. This is not like buying a leftover legacy ICE.

When is the date for HW4 and how do you identify you are getting a HW4 vehicle?

Just curious, what is the benefit of getting financing and paying it off before the first payment, compared to paying it off up front?
Money was stuck in ibonds and other deals. So had to go through financing to buy the car.

Got it. Thanks! I am close to buying the car and was about to pay up-front and wanted to make sure there were no issues with it.

I was told you can cancel and put the 250 towards another order. Just can't get a refund,
UPDATE: After a couple of rounds of updated orders, my local Tesla center was able to switch to the Midnight Silver from white. They initially tried to add the $1000 for the color change.

Still on the fence as to whether I want to wait for the Project Highland revision. i have until next week to decide.

another $500 off if you use a referral, started today. If you can wait then maybe current version will get a bit cheaper. Doubt prices go up but might on highland version.

It's obvious they are clearing out inventory for highland update. Since they just updated the referral program yesterday, wonder how long the refresh will take. These are the best incentives they have offered in quite some time for a non end of quarter push.

It seems the price adjustment for inventory orders is over.

I am seeing the same in Dallas area, but Houston and Austin still have inventory discounts.

Seeing some Model 3's for 36k right now in my area (socal), prices actually seem a bit erratic, exact same model/trims are ranging from 36-38k. Wonder if maybe the lower priced ones are demo models and the website just isn't displaying that for some reason? Or maybe we're finally seeing more price drops?
