90 watts is adequate for 99% of home theaters. People greatly exaggerate the amount of power necessary.

Right there with you. We're upgrading for the hdmi and better app control. I complain about the new prices and people say well it's an enthusiast product now. But then they strip all the features out for the enthusiasts. I wish I would have just done Sonos instead of putting in ceiling speakers.

Anyways after all that, I just picked one up. Also picked up the 760H from Costco for $400 yesterday before this deal was posted. Going to mess with them side by side. Other than the power difference, I need to see if one handles zone b patio speakers better.

I believe both of these models are discontinued. I was waiting on a X1800H but they never released one.
I found Zone 2 on my Onkyo nearly useless because it DOES NOT downmix a digital signal to those outputs! A simple D/A converter was left out of an enthusiast AVR I am so pissed. I got everything wired and found it that i can't even do it. I'd rather have L/R preouts than a useless Zone 2. Also, it you use ATMOS you lose Zone two and have to go into menus to disable it, THEN Zone 2 works again. This should be automatic when you select Zone 2. All I wanted to do was to be able to hear the game in the bathroom but nope.

This or the Onkyo TX nr-6100 THX??
The Denon s960 has auto surround, so you don't have to constantly select sound modes when you watch content with different audio codecs.

I just read all of it and there is no clear winner. They are evenly matched.

Had to pull the trigger on this one. Deal too good to pass up, plus I've been recently looking to get the 760H. Comparatively speaking, it makes sense to get this over that one. So I did, as it's time to replace my ten year old receiver. I consider this one of, at least, two retirement presents to myself.
Second one a new wife? 😂

Agree, will jump if it has LR pre out...
Cheapest recent gen Denon with preouts is either the 3800 or 3700H. Much much more expensive.

You're not getting one for anywhere close to 400.

I can't believe that Best Buy wouldn't price match. Really wanted to pick it up today. Oh well.

Picked one up at Christmas and it's pretty great. My biggest complaint is how they do monitors and zones. If you have a dual monitor single zone 7.2 setup for some reason it can't just output the audio mix to the 2nd monitor. However, if you turn the receiver off, in standby mode, it will send video and audio out to two monitors.

That is to say, if you want to watch a movie in two rooms at the same time you have to have the receiver off and use your two TVs speakers... So what's the point of the avr except I guess at least it gives a second hdmi out to any source.

Anyways, seems to me since they can send audio out to monitor 2 via hdmi in standby they should be able to do it while they system is on running speakers in 1 zone.

Killer deal. Has 3 HDMI 2.1 @ 120hz and is their top of the line model.

This or costco one for same price? Any big difference?
If you're referring to the S760h, get this.

This is 100% an upgrade from the S760h.

Yes they are, it ultimately comes down to sound signatures & feature(s) needed.

IMO MultEQ may have an edge over AccuEQ since you can use the Editor App with it.

I am bias though, I prefer Denon's sound signature and higher reliability status IMO.

Ahhh...i see what you did there. LOL! Nah, my wife is a keeper. She put up with me for 20 years, plus there's a "no return" policy...so ....yeah. No, the other thing is getting an XBOX Series X. Thus the need for the receiver.

Please do update your take on that side by side comparison. To me it looks like other than 15w/channel, and may be one extra HDMI/eArc out, it's just them playing with model numbers for listing at a lower price as Costco

Can you please list few of the differences other than additional 15w/speaker and one additional HDMI/eArc out? No info online
