Too bad we can't get sales any longer like the Home Depot clearance...I picked up the self-propelled model with 7.5ah for $299 and it's still going strong.
Ditto and I also got the jetpack w/ 7.5 for $199. Now those were real prices. When these batteries die I will just sell off my ego stuff and start again. It is sad I gave my 15 yo Toro w/ Honda engine to my moms 5 years ago and it still working. While I like the electric, something has got to be done about the battery cost.

Now way I would drop $700 on something that MAY last 5 years and Ego will ghost you on support. I had a recon battacting up (under 1 yr warranty) they told me to go pound sand. Yes it was recon FROM ego directly.

Too bad tools are nice, Ego is not.

Tried to get the $499 LW2135SP deal Ace had but they would not honor their price online. I like the LM2102SP-A for $499 as it comes with 2 4AH batteries. If you get a dud or one just eventually dies you always have the other to run the mower until you can replace it, only $150-$200. Vs a single big battery. When it does you can't mow, warranty or not, then it's $400 to replace.

But I am still searching for a reasonable deal. At $700 it's too rich for me.

I bought into EGO a few years ago, but after all the Battery Pack fails that they failed to stand behind, I am searching for an alternative. Preferably a cheaper one.
And if you do get a bad battery, they replace with a 'refurb' and will not extend the warranty. No bueno.
I'm getting tired of pounding sand, with parried warranty claims.

I dream for consumers to get a universal battery pack, with replaceable cells and put an end to this proprietary Capitalist abuse. Now THAT is legislation that I could get behind.
Just open a small claims case against them. That's what you do if you ever have warranty issues with any company.

Wish I would have known that years ago.

Don't buy this if you have lots twigs in your yard. It can't pick them up and chop them the way a gas mower does. I bought this and returned it for this reason.
Did you try the High Lift blade? No issues with twigs and leaves with it except it drains the battery faster even when not bagging.

Costco has the 80v Greenworks on sale from time to time for $449 with 2x 4.0 Ah batteries. They advertise 1x 2.0 and 1x 4.0 but those of us that purchased during the holidays received 2x 4.0. Cuts long grass great and the batteries last plus 8 year battery warranty.
It's $599 now and clearly states on the box a 4Ah and 2Ah. Think last year it was two 4Ah.

At $449 with two 4Ah I would jump but I don't think we will ever see that price again.

Does it come with the high lift or is that extra?

Tempted but I hear that if the grass is long, it'll struggle more so compared to gas mower. I have a tendency to leave grass slightly long.
Depends on what you consider "long." If you mean a little shaggy, like six or seven inches, you should be fine. But if you frequently let it go to seed, it'll be tough, especially if the grass is dewy.

Anyway, I have this mower, and it does a great job as long as I don't try to shear down a yard of thick, 12"+ grass/weeds.

I went from a gas mower to an Ego a few years back. I expected it to not be as strong as the gas mower, but I was tired of all the maintenance required for the gas engine.

Well, it turns out the Ego far exceeded my expectations and beat my old gas mower on performance hands down. It's not even close. I let my grass get pretty long between cuts, and the Ego cuts through it with no problem whatever, even in cases where the gas mower sometimes struggled. The torque is just unbelievable.

I can't say enough good things about this mower. Mowing is so much less of a chore now. Much like we're seeing with cars, electric motors have a big torque advantage over old gasoline engines. And the maintenance is virtually nonexistent. No more oil changes or trips to the gas station to fill up gasoline containers. It starts up every time reliably.

the pros are going this way, I've managed several lawns with all Ego. Not a shill but I can't tell you how much I've saved on down time and repairs on gas gear.. I was never mechanical or had a decent shop of my own. No more storage worries but I do try to bring in the batteries over winter.

Bought the EGO select cut with the 7.5 Ah battery about a month ago and returned it after first use. My grass is Kentucky bluegrass, wasn't tall, height at 4, battery fully charged died after 15 min. Recharged to 25% and only got 3 min.

May look into getting a corded mower. What's the most powerful/best one I can get?

Ugh the mower I want to get but have to wait to see what house we get before I can get it. We have a zero turn now, most of the houses aren't big enough for it. Grr.

Wow, thanks for that tip. Found one about 25 miles away that had it for $599 ($749-$150). It's not available for "Delivery from Store", so I'd have to have it shipped to the store for pickup. I don't mind doing that Smilie
