I think I'll hold off until manufacturers pay me to take their SSD's. Then, I'll start haggling on price from there.

If you only have 2.5" options left, the Vulcans seemed good enough for bulk storage with this not far behind them. I focused on "decent" speed with good power efficiency.
However, for the cost, I'm returning them for Solidigm P41 Plus NVMe 2TB I bought for $75.99, also from NewEgg. They use more power, but at only a few dollars more, I get much better performance.
Again, if you don't have free NVMe slots, these seem good enough.

Please do not pitch the idea of ad supported ssd to them. Seeing ads to open/store files on the computer is the last thing humanity needs.
I agree. I do see the time where as these prices keep going down that it's possible that one could buy a 1TB version and later pay to unlock it to 2TB. That is, they just make 2TB or even 4TB models, sell them as 1TB prices and they allow the consumer to do an in-place upgrade to unlock the capacity.
I just hope they don't go to a subscription model.
Holding off for now, but if 2tb hits $50 I just know I'm going to cave.
Back OT, I got the 1tb version before Christmas, and it made a nice upgrade to my xbox1x. The dashboard is much snappier.
