It's the only chipset that allows both sata and nvme.
Macrium has a free version for cloning. It is eol Jan 2024 but you can use it up til then. It will work afterwards but no security updates.

Paragon Backup & Recovery has a free version.

Do they offer free system or disk clone softwares? If not, it may make sense to spend a little more to get one that comes with such software.

Sorry no. I ordered last go-around. Just a little quick start leaflet included. Nothing indicated on the box.

Maybe check their website. There used to be several free(trail) cloning software sites.

This is the same price when I ordered mine last Xmas. I use it along with crucial P3+ 2TB M.2 SSD. I never updated the firmware so far and it works fine. The P3+ speed is limited to this USB enclosure. I do not even see a lot improvement when compare to my old Toshiba 2TB external HD.
