this model gets shit on.. is it deserved? if the "pro" was taken out of the name and it was just called macbook.. would it not get shit on? are apple users just butthurt about something?
seems like a nice middle between the air and pro line.. having the fan when it's needed, and then smaller form factor of the air and it not being as overpriced as the pro line

Okay yeah that's what I was thinking, I was looking at the m1 air for 1169 from woot, but for $30 extra I can get extra half tb and fan, with a very similar size.

Biggest one to me was M1 (non m1 Pro or Max) does not support 2 or more external monitors natively. You'll need to pick up additional hardware to run it.

Anything besides the design? An extra $550 for a new design is a big much for me. I hear the computing jump from m1 to m2 isn't that big

Correct, it costs more to actually get a Pro chip. The "Pro" in the Macbook name has nothing to do with what chip is inside. You could even get a Max chip inside if you are willing to pay more.
