So, even with the cheapest package, expect to spend 4 days traveling, 5 days vacation, taxes and fees on cheapest room ends up being $3300 for 2 (I just did a mock booking to see), flights + 4k minimum (I searched flights from where I live in Phoenix 6+ months out and it ranged anywhere from 1900 to 3000 with VERY limited options), so just going with 4k). So total, $7300 MINIMUM for a 5 day vacation.
One of the best vacations I ever did was I flew from the US to New Zealand (it was like 2hrs to LA, then 13hrs to New Zealand). I then took a celebrity 12 night cruise for $1500 a person (I paid roughly $4500 total after taxes, tip, and on-ship extras and excursions). Yes, that was long, but it was a 1 day process, rather than a 2 day. Flights were about $800 each after taxes, round trip, so let's say $1600 total. We flew in 3 days early to New Zealand and visited NZ for 3 days (about $600 total hotel costs) extra, and another $200 for food, so $800 total. The itinerary included New Zealand's Bay of Islands, 2 different stops in Fiji, 2 different Samoa island stops, a sail by Tonga (did not disembark here), and return back to Auckland, so a roundtrip cruise. Absolutely amazing. Grand total? $1600 + $4500 + $800 = $6900.
Think about that. I got a legit 15 day vacation to the Polynesian islands, 2 days traveling, all inclusive food and way more entertainment and things to do on the ships, and it was roughly $7000 for my wife and I.
This Maldives trip you get a 5 day vacation and 4 days of traveling for roughly the same price... Not sure I buy that it's worth that.
Prices maybe have changed so I could have outdated info. I am not saying this is a bad deal. I just don't personally see the value in it for only a 5 day vacation even at these "discounted" prices.

Best time to go is December - April I was there first week of May but I got lucky on weather, could of been days of non stop rain. Maldives is not for everyone, its expensive no matter what way you go.
Non all inclusive resorts your paying $10 of cola and $50 for pizza's, everything is shipped in 2 times, taxes and fee's make food very expensive.
Depending on where you are in the US its 30-36hrs of total travel time, no way around it.
5 nights is plenty of me, I have gone on weekend trips to the Maldives, but its all about preference, after 5 days starts to feel like ground hog day in paradise, but since I have gone often it's different for me.
One thing I will mention is Maldives is been cashed out of its remoteness and IMO paradise, Chinese and Indian government loaned billions to the Maldives Gov to build big, big new airport terminal, more new resorts than I can count and every aircraft than lands there are full of tourists, its become very commercialized, it used to be not like that but it is what it is. MALE the capital is double the size it was 10 years ago, just by reclaiming land and while I never gone there its not a tourist destination, very dirty and people are just surviving.
People are very friendly and helpful, when you arrive outside, there will be a friendly face waiting for you to help you get to this resort.
This resort is south of MALE and since its closer to the equator it will be slight more humid and hotter (and more rain) then resorts in the north.
Much for one place 6 times a year
