The only thing taken off is the delivery fee. They add 1 or 2 dollars to each menu item to make up for that. And they still have service charges. So basically this membership thing is a lie. It provides no real form of discount.

I received an email stating I have another year without having to do anything on my part. Now to reset my cancel date to 07/2024.

There was a pair of young bachelors living in the townhouse next door to me. They burst a pipe a couple winters ago and flooded the whole building because they could never afford to run the furnace in the winter. They would get water and power shutoff notices posted on their door just about every month. Last month they finally got evicted after being 4 months behind on rent.

Uber eats never stopped showing up at their door 2-3 times a day the whole 2.5 years they lived there. Literally up until they day they shoved as much as they could into a truck and took off.
That's hilarious. Not surprisingly I have noticed that my coworkers that get food delivered are usually the ones that can least afford it and are always complaining about never having enough money for bills, rent, etc.

Me too. I was going to cancel early next month, had a calendar reminder.
Now I guess I will move it to next year
Didn't get any email. Canceling in 2 weeks. I resent all these delivery companies. Whether it's fraud or not, it's crooked and they take from the consumer and the restaurants WITHOUT being upfront and clear (outside fine print)

Whenever possible, always call the restaurant to order. Used GH+ 2x only when they have a 20off promo or such.

Many are same company, ie UberEATS owns Postmates

These companies are scams. Just pick up your own food.

Grub Hub has a class action lawsuit against them for several deceptive practices.

https://topclassactions.com/lawsu...l-schemes/

Door Dash was hit with its own class action lawsuit for charging iPhone users more than Android users, and then tacking on an 'extended range fee" to subscribers of Dash Pass, essentially giving no benefits to the $10 a month premium service with the $0 delivery fee.

https://nypost.com/2023/05/24/doo...one-users/

I mean if you're drunk or high and want to eat, yes, pay the premium and be safe! But if you have a car and can drive, use it to pick up your own food.

Or just don't be dumb. I've never been 'deceived' by the grubhub service fee because when I first saw it I tapped on the information icon and read what it was. I also have never been charged an 'extended service fee' from doordash because if they did try to charge me that, I would've canceled the order. What are people doing here, just mashing their phone with their palms and waiting for their food to arrive without checking the total?

Picking up my food is not an option when most restaurants in my area are 20+ min round trip. I'm happy to pay extra for the convenience of being able to do other stuff like putting my kid to bed while it's being prepared and delivered to my doorstep. That $10+ is more than worth it and the restaurant and delivery driver are getting money that they wouldn't have gotten if the service didn't exist as I would be far less likely to order out.

Thanks to this deal I found my trial was going to expire next month and would have been charged. Cancelled and renewed for two years.

I'm not a fan of these delivery services, i mean...they raise the price of all menu items, they add a service fee, and a delivery fee and then you need to tip. Just feels so wasteful, rarely use them

Sometimes with coupons, discounts on grubhub gift cards, and the $10 amex monthly grubhub reward, it can be cheaper than going to the store. I get $20 in monthly credits from my Amex cards. I was able to go to a meat market on grubhub and pickup 3lbs of beef bacon for $9. It would have cost me about $27 at the supermarket (I also had a $10 groupon discount for a recent late delivery). I'm just saying if you use a little discipline, it can benefit you.

"Sometimes" is the key word here and only if you jump through a bunch of hoops. All those hoops just don't make it worth it to me. Besides, instead of focusing your efforts on maybe saving a few bucks with Grubhub why not just go to the supermarket and buy food to cook at home. This is where frugality meets stupidity if you ask me.

Grub hub is only of value for certain restaurants. There's some places I know where Grubhub is the only option. So if your very fond of certain restaurants that use this and need delivery it makes sense.

I get monthly discounts on Grubhub, so I try to use it at places I would normally buy. This saves money, and doesn't require any time or effort. I was just pointing out that some people make it work. If you don't want to pay the premium for the convenience, then don't use the service. Some people are willing to splurge on an expensive meal, others would never . It's not stupid just because it's not your thing.

I have no problem with folks just willingly paying for the convenience of getting food delivered. I only say that people looking to MAYBE save a buck or two from what they would normally pay are wasting their time and I think it's rather foolish. Besides, you are more likely to indulge in garbage food that you shouldn't be eating in the first place.

I recently got a free month of Prime from an Amazon order, so it let me get this trial. Anyone know if it'll charge me $10 next month after my Prime trial is up? Or would it just cancel the trial altogether?

Had the 1 free year previously but never received an extension email from grubhub. Was due to expire next month. I canceled the grubhub membership, used the grubhub trial link on the Amazon and now have 2 more years free.... WINNING!
