Q: How do I activate my phone with Verizon/AT&T?
A: Nobody knows. It seems like Walmart didn't send the account info to the carriers for them to set up our accounts. Unless someone has an insider connection with Walmart's mobile phone division, your guess is as good as anyone else's. Some people have been able to activate on an existing line, but so far only one person has confirmed that they were able to complete their Verizon account based off of the Walmart order.
Q: What do I do with the phone and SIM card?
A: You can unlock the iPhone using the AT&T trick, then use it AT YOUR OWN RISK on the carrier of your choice while we all wait to see what will happen with Walmart/AT&T/Verizon.
Q: How do I pay off the phone?

A: You don't. None of us know anything at this point. Anybody who says otherwise is just speculating.
Q: How do I unlock with the "AT&T trick"?
A: There are a few steps:
- Acquire an inactive AT&T SIM (DO NOT ACTIVATE SERVICE)
- Put the inactive AT&T SIM in the iPhone and complete the setup process
- Visit https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ and click "submit an unlock request"
- Under "Do you have a mobile number" select "No", enter the device IMEI, and complete the process
- You should get one email right away asking you to confirm and another one shortly afterwards to say that the unlock was complete after your confirmation
- Insert a SIM from a different carrier to verify the phone is now unlocked (the settings might still say "SIM Locked" until you complete this step)
Q: I already put in Verizon SIM that came with the phone. Can I use the "AT&T trick" to unlock phone?
A: No. You SIM-locked the phone when you connected to Apple servers with Verizon SIM in phone. If you never connected to the Internet with Verizon SIM (unlikely), then "AT&T trick" should still work in theory.
Q: Walmart is a really big company. Don't they have processes in place to catch this sort of thing?
A: Maybe we'll find out at some point, but nobody knows except Walmart.

It worked few years ago on similar deal at Best Buy.

So let's see. $65/month + $5.55 for the phone = 70.55 x 36 months = $2,540 total. Unlimited slows after 30Gb is used.
Buy a used phone from eBay for $500 and get the unlimited plan from Mint Mobile (that's who I've been using) for $30/month (when purchased as a full year in advance for $360) = $360 x 3 = $1,080 plus the phone is a THREE YEAR TOTAL OF $1,580.00. Unlimited slows after 40Gb is used.
Buy your phone separately from Mint plan: $1,580.00 for 3 years.
Buy your phone bundles from Verizon plan $2,540 total for 3 years.

It only says that the phone payments is $5.xx for 36 months. The idea is we just payoff the phone ($199 total), keep it in service for 60 days and cancel the plan.
Would be nice to get a clarification on whether or not they're requiring us to have service for 36 months (I went through both verizon and att's check our process, none of them mentioned anything about being locked in)

Please note: You'll be charged for the full price of your device if it hasn't been activated or returned within 24 days.
Full price is $199 in the description though.
If this were prepaid, I would 100% do it. But the fact that we have to give SSN is giving me second thoughts since yea, I don't want to be locked in for 3 year either.
I might be able to activate and cancel and possibly not pay for service OR at worst i am paying for two months @ $65+taxes. After using a s22 ultra i am looking forward to a small phone.
ATT I believe has made it harder and longer to unlock after the recent Fold 3 deal. The previous thread of similiar Samsung phones mentioned for ATT has an unlock trick of activating, then swapping the phone on the account, then submitting an unlock request as a non-user. But it's YMMV.
It worked few years ago on similar deal at Best Buy.

With that said, I would prefer to pay $300 for a brand new iPhone 13 or 13 mini pre-paid by either verizon or att, which ever is easier to unlock. Hopefully this blackfriday they will have the regular 13 or 13 mini for $299 like they had the 12 mini last year for $299 and the year before that.
