I ordered it and am hunting for a sale on the 12 inch d3 with lid.

D3 > Copper Core > D5
My rationale: the five layer takes too long to heat up and heat through. For that amount of effort I'd rather use my cast iron. The D3 tests very well even besting the D5 in America's test kitchen. I'm unsure if the copper core is worth the premium for so little gain (IMHO).
I bought two pans yesterday both brand new with lid.
D3 10" with lid NEW for 69.99
D3 12" with lid NEW FOR 89.99
Both from Amazon via their price match of the Macy's sale. The prices seemed so good to me, that it didn't make sense to go for a factory second on a Copper Core when I can get brand new and fully warrantied pans. Plus Amazon is easy returns or exchanges in the rare chance that I get a counterfeit.
Regardless of price don't buy D3 fry pan if you have or intend to buy induction. The D3 can not stay flat on induction burners which concentrate the heat in the center. Per A-C customer service which replaced 3 of my D3's A-C introduced the D5 to address the issue. There is no other reason to buy the D5 fry pan other than that it is stiffer.

The cooking style, food and the burner type will determine how much one needs to spend on a fry pan. Cast iron is great but on portable induction only the center heats unless you use a pan 9" or smaller.
Eggs don't stick in my 24 cm euro style Staub as long as I season and keep the temp down. But I can go up to 32 cm in Demeyere Proline no problem on the portable. If you want wipe-clean easy clean up then go with Proline. I ordered the 12 " copper core for testing to check the stickiness and the ability to spread heat on the current All-Clad. After that its gone.
