For those who have placed their orders successfully, will WD cancel the orders due to a price error?

I guess now I just need to wait for another price mistake. All of those regular deals are no longer good enough.

Or just buy a different brand. Plenty of 4TB drives that are closer to $200. Most people won't notice the difference in absolute performance.

my main issue is not performance but reliability. i've had multiple phison based SSDs die on me already. i recently bought one of these 4tb wd drives to replace a 2tb phison E18 based SSD that lasted only 8 months. i probed around it with a multimeter and the electrical short is in the controller, not the NAND or DRAM.

5 year warranty on the WDs. You still should do backups though with any brand.

That's interesting. I have only had issues with one SSD in over a decade, and that was an old 256GB. Have you checked the idle and load temperatures of your drives? I have three m.2 and one 2.5" SSD drives in my machine, and I noticed that one of them (2TB WD m.2 sata) regularly hits 55c. Rest of them stay in the 30s or 40s. Could be related to the location on the motherboard. I hope those temps don't lead to failure soon.

Mines is shipped and delivered. At work right now but i got two shinny 4tb drives waiting for me at home plus a free 64gb thumb drive. Paid for expidited shipping just in case they catch on and cancel.
Nice! I went with free and it arrives tomorrow as they shipped from my home state of California.

For anyone who received it and installed it, can you check if the firmware installed is the latest version? I plan to install it in my PS5 but I'll put in my PC first to update if a firmware update is required.

If anyone got extra and is in Sacramento - Lathrop - Modesto - Dublin areas (or Bay Area in general), I'd love to buy one. I'm looking to upgrade my laptop.

i'm aware about having to make backups, and i really don't care about the SSD being replaced. what annoys me is wasting time setting things up when i replace a drive in my workstation or praying that nothing else dies while my NAS is rebuilding a volume.
