However, if you already have an active Gamepass Ultimate account, the conversion is not 1:1. Don't recall what the conversion rate is at the moment.
If your Gamepass account is currently not active, you can convert however many months of a Gold account to gamepass by purchasing one month of gamepass ultimate. Mine expired in April so I loaded up three years worth of Gold again and then bought one month of ultimate. I got a good deal at the time, but this is the best deal I have seen without messing with VPNs.

1. Buy these 3 month GOLD codes and activate just one.
2. When ask to enable reoccurring billing, say YES. You will need a valid credit card on file. This will possibly gift you another month for free. This is not guaranteed.
3. Either way, disable reoccurring billing afterwards.
4. Activate another code, repeat steps 2 and 3. Keep doing this until you max out or reach your desired subscription length
5. Once all that is done to active GOLD, buy one month of Xbox Gamepass Ultimate (usually $15)
6. Activate that code and accept the offer to convert your GOLD subscription account to Gamepass Ultimate.
AGAIN, this process only works if you are not already using an active Gamepass account. If so, you will need to wait till it expires.
During redeeming of the codes I don't believe I turned on the automatic renewal for the free month, but maybe I did by accident causing the last code not to redeem before I subscribed to GPU.

Upon further research it seems to be YMMV on getting the free month. I'm sure I had gotten it in the past--maybe that's why it doesn't let me have it now since I used it too much or something...
