The cheap HF ones actually seem to be calibrated pretty well, the problem is that they often to fail to click (or click noticeably) at the set torque setting. Many people have this problem, but you might be lucky...for now.

On the other hand, these Huskys have a reliable and very noticeable click every time. Well worth the extra cost if you need to torque something important.

If you prefer the digital one, you can get the Quinn digital torque adapter(up to 250ftlbs), (MSRP 50, but HF has coupon frequently to bring down to ~35-40), https://www.harborfreight.com/12-...58706.html

Is the twist to lock ring made out of metal? I have an old Craftsman that had a plastic twist to lock ring and that broke...making the wrench useless.

You don't really need any accuracy with mower blades. Recently I torqued the head gasket bolts on my son's car with the HF 1/2" torque wrench. Turned out to be just right.

If you'd ever had these taken apart you'd know there's no way that same mechanism could 'fail to click'. Once I added too much oil there and its clicks became less noticeable. That wasn't a HF one though but it does not make any difference, they're all the same inside.

I own both, there is a very distinct difference in quality between them and using the Husky is significantly more confidence inspiring than the cheap HF one. Read that other thread I linked to and you'll see that I'm not alone in this opinion.

Project Farm tested that Lexivon and found it to frequently be out of range: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP4uECoH8cc

Might be acceptable enough for lug nuts, but something needing to be more precise and even like cylinder head bolts could be disastrous.

I've owned the regular harbor freight torque wrench. Good luck trying to get it to the higher values. I think mine goes to a max of 100 even though it says it goes up to 150. Tried several in stores when I warrantied one that didn't work correctly. All of them had the same issue of mot being able to go beyond a certain point usually around 100 ft/lbs.

it does just fine for tire lugs. Anything needing more precise measurement I go with my tekton or split beam from olsa.

Actualy I own another 1/2" torque wrench, an older one. I checked their accuracy against each other and they both click at the same torque.

You got lucky using 1/2" for head gaskets. I used the HF 3/8" Torque wrench and set it to 30ft/lbs. It was seized or didn't click right. I didn't even pull on it that hard but it snapped the bolt on my Honda v6 engine.

Now I'm looking for a quality 3/8" one or maybe even 1/4". Had two separate HF 3/8" ones fail on me on two separate occasions.

That's nothing. Recently a young dentist idiot with a torque wrench which 'was seized or didn't click right' almost snapped my tooth implant off the jaw! And when a couple days later a real dentist surgeon was trying to take it off he bent his wrench!.. Thank God I have strong bones... after that I don't care much about them cyl heads and other metal junk.

I picked this up about a year ago from a previous sale ($50). This broke a couple of days ago on my second or third use (clicker failed) . On the plus side, home depot accepted my exchange no questions asked. Will see how MK2 performs.
