I have no doubt this will be much better built than any Tesla, but this car looks way smaller than a Model 3 or Y. Looks to be at least a full size class lower than midsize.
Model 3 is like a Honda civic. How can an SUV be smaller than that?

Still not too late to cancel your Model 3 order if you FOMO'd into that. This Volvo is worth the wait and wipes the floor of Tesla for less money with much better quality.
How can you say that? You've never seen one before.Ridiculous,

Not everyone needs a large suv....
...although why a compact suv IS a bit crazy, like asking for a tiny truck.

But Mazda CX-3 manages to sell, so....

Much larger dealership network, too.

Anyone try to find a Tesla dealership for repairs out in the boonies?

Still one reason to buy Ford, etc...

The Model 3 is 42k and built in a tent with the worst build quality and nonexistent customer service. The Volvo is 35k. Its a Volvo. Nuff said.
It turns me off when I heard this model will be made in China.

But many people buy Tesla's even though there is no dealer nearby, making
a warranty claim difficult and possibly skewing their numbers lower..

Tesla has been the lowest rated vehicle for quality by Consumer Reports.

Built in a tent- quality has to be compromised..
Not sure but I used to buy primary Toyotas for they reliable. Volvo is one of the worst in electronic issue I mean I had electronic gauge failure within a year of ownership, and all the euro Audi, Benz and Porsche vehicles we had own all had sensors and electronics issues after about 5 years or so. The Tesla by far is very reliable probably can be more reliable than my 200k miles Toyota. Our Tesla is at 110k and so far maintenance is almost non other than tires and air filters and tire rotation. Service wise they come to your house for any free bulletin service. Their service center sucks but you hardly ever need them.

It's comparable in size to Hyundai Kona according to one of the people who were at the reveal that posted to YouTube.

This Volvo is not the safe Swedish car of the past that were so strong that you could stack a half dozen of them on top of each other without crushing the bottom one. Everyone in our family once owned them.

If I wanted an EV I'd get a Tesla or a Nissan Leaf but I would rather get a hybrid.

China bought Volvo. No thanks CCP.

Just get the bolt ev 2LT fully loaded trim and be done with it. This volvo car looks similar in size to bolt ev. Bolt has a roomier inside and traditional buttons and touchscreen for audio, lights and so on. I have bolt ev 2lt and it shows 279miles per charge average based on my driving habbits. It can reach max 300miles.

Ownership of the factory's namesake rarely is reflection of the auto brand though.

Heck, for a while Chrysler used to own Lamborghini.

Tata of India owns Jaguar and Land Rover and my understanding is their reliability has gotten much better after the ownership change.

Volvo is made in many different countries throughout the world and I believe they are opening factory in US so maybe this one will be made in US.

Chinese manufacturing tech is VERY advanced. Only issue is that people are not willing to pay for quality out of Chinese factories most of the time. (Tesla/Apple/etc.) Pretty much only reason Chinese are not selling their cars in US is probably due to dealership and service network issues, (more of logistical issues) maybe utilizing existing dealerships by buying up the existing company may be a way to do it? (Like Volvo) I don't know.
The EX30 will be produced in the Zhangjiakou plant in China - which is operated by Geely, Volvo's controlling shareholder. - and is due to start later in 2023.

So they are NOT going to be made in the US but in China..... once again NO THANKS!

Volvo continues to design cars in Sweden. The CEO is Scottish. They build their cars in factories around the world, including the USA. Geely is the parent company based in China that funds all of this. Common knowledge if you follow automotive industry news. Depending on the model, Volvos are built in: Gothenburg (Sweden), Ghent (Belgium), South Carolina (US), Chengdu, Daqing and Taizhou (China). You are correct that the EX30 is being built in China. Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen and Toyota do the same in other parts of the world.

BTW, are you using and iPhone or Android? Maybe a desktop or laptop? Guess where those come from.
You are correct in that most things today are made in China but when I do have a choice, and here you clearly do, I elect NOT to buy from China. It is my hope that someday we will all wake up and realize how much we have sold our souls and future to China. I laugh then cry every time we close down a coal, oil or gas plant here, then pat ourselves on the back on what good citizens of earth we are as we gladly buy all our products from a country with slave labor that uses unfiltered coal plants almost exclusively and pollutes more than the rest of the world. I'm so glad "insert sarcasm here" that all that polluted air stays over China and does not travel anywhere else.

Last year, China opened up two coal plants EACH WEEK!

Not all teslas are made in the US. The model 3 is made in CA, Japan, Korea, China, Canada. The tax credit is based on the origin of the battery.
The cars are made in different location based on the market where they are sold. All sold in the US are made in the US. The cheapest model 3 is the only one that uses Chinese battery. If the requirement was just based on battery, model 3 does not qualify.
