Simply put, the difference in diameter between the two sizes (5 mm vs 1/4") is slightly more than the diameter of the wire used in common paperclips, with the 1/4" being the larger diameter of the two.

This is one of the more random items to gain traction here. But this is the kind of stuff I love about slickdeals. You just never know, what, when, or why some things are posted here. The great thing is, It's up to us to decide whether it's a garbage deal or not.

Just this past weekend I was at a client site where I was assisting with the installation of some new POS equipment, and some of the networking gear and a UPS needed to be placed on a shelf… but the shelf was crazy slanted. Turns out, at some point, the plastic brackets that came with the shelving unit broke or got lost, and somebody threw two metal brackets (like in the OP) at the problem… but the offsets are dramatically different, causing the shelf to slant to one side (and causing stuff on the shelf to slide to the side). Thought to myself, "I really should get some replacement shelving feet and fix this… this is goofy", and SHAZAM! A slickdeal! Really does seem magical.
Ordered.
And the 1/4-inch are available on Amazon at the same price.
