I purchased this a few months ago off eBay new. It was my first dive into HLVPs, so I do not have any comparison, however the research I did online seemed to indicate this was one of the better ones.
I've painted a lot with it, and I think it works great. It can put as much or as little paint you want on a project. Cleaning is easy, though there are about eight individual pieces that need to be cleaned. Mine came with a nice case, but moreover it came with a lot of spare filters, which was great.
I paid $180 and thought I was getting a good deal, this is an amazing price.
I used a wagner similar to this and it took straight latex paint just fine. These things can/will spit from the start/stop so look up HVLP sprayer tips & tricks in general but I didn't find it to be all too difficult to work with. But it's not airless so you will have blow by if you don't have a well set up area.
the worst thing about sprayers like this is they're very top heavy and will cause arm fatigue quickly. I would NOT recommend using it overhead for long periods of time.

Anyone use this? Worthy or barely? Price is nice but not digging too deep in I can see it rates roughly 3 out of 5 stars most places. Anyone know how this compares to the Harbor Freight similar setup?

What type of paint are you putting threw it, and what type of thinning down? These types of guns sometimes struggle with latex, but are fine with stains. I need to paint some cabinets.

Do you think this could be used to paint the outside of a house or would it be mainly used for smaller projects/rooms?

I think it is all water based, I've been using Dutchboy. I add something like 1/4 cup of water to the paint reservoir to thin. Hell, I could be totally screwing it up, all my experience has been YouTube videos and The painting I've done so far.

It isn't the lightest thing to hold for a while, I can tell you that 😁, so being able to put it down when I want is nice. IDK how I would fare on a ladder with this thing.
Edit: Plus, the reservoir isn't huge, IDK how much coverage you can get per fill.

I'd recommend a Graco airless spray rig that fits on a 5 gallon bucket for spraying a house.
I see this as mainly being useful for smaller projects, but sort of like an electric pressure washer on a large driveway, it's not a great tool for it, but you can do it of your patient.

I would only use it on small project so this might be perfect.

the alternative is a roller on a long pole for long periods, so give/take.
I would personally rent/buy an airless sprayer that has a long enough hose for the house instead of one of these.
