People may comment that "this is an older model" and there is truth to that. But, having deployed hundreds of Dell docking stations over the years, this unit is one of the most stable. It will easily support three monitors, has 5 UBS ports (some newer ones have only two) and works great for a above basic level dock. I have had to replace or exchange many of the newer models over the last few years, and they start at twice this price.

I've tried to get this docking station to work with a dual-screen setup on a MacBook Air M2 without success.

Seeing as this is only USB3, is this a USB video card or is there some sort of passthrough from the native video device? Display isn't part of USB3 IIRC, which is why I'm asking.

The "triple display" comes from the 2 HDMI and 1 DisplayPort connections.

"D3100 works with DisplayLink technology that enables docking features over USB"

No, I have not. Since there are often some driver updates needed, I would not assume it would work well with a MAC.

In my experience, it works well out of the box in most cases, but there are often firmware updates for the dock (and the laptop if using a Dell) that are recommended by Dell.

This does *not* deliver power, correct?

This is a DisplayLink device. https://www.synaptics.com/product...k-graphics

I've had this particular one (D3100) for a while and works okay. Their software has been getting better over time, still some occasional glitches where monitors can go black for a while and come back sometimes. The biggest thing is to not try to use this with older laptops that have a poor CPU, otherwise should work fairly good.

Also due to what this chooser does, compress video and the linke, gaming on the display connected to this is more than likely a no-go. For office work it works just fine.

In general some of these DiaplayLink models can be had for very cheap on eBay. I also own a Targus DOCK192USZ which has the latest chipset and also provided power output and see some are still available for cheaper than this on eBay. YMMV.

There are some reviewers stating that they managed to make the dual screen work on their MacBook Air M1. Did installing display link drivers not work?
