No free memory upgrade to 512gb. With regular offer at 512GB free upgrade, it is $427 with education discount comparing to $449, hence not good deal for 512GB version. But good deal for 256GB.

The biggest upgrade is the 8gen2. I own both s22u and s23u, the s22u is constantly a hot potato while s23u is at most warm under heavy load. Other than the processor, the battery life is a huge improvement. At $200 difference probally it makes sense to upgrade but not over that.

They ship you your new phone with packing material. Some soft sheeting and a lot of cardboard that is long, shredded like a pair of 80s jeans, rolled up on the new phone. A fedex return label will be inside. You will need to tape it to the outside of the box, on top of the original label (or remove the original label and apply new one).

Get your new phone up and running first. Look for any issues for a week.

Do a factory reset on your old phone. take a picture of the screen with your new phone to show no issues of front and back while on. In case Samsung employee tries to pull a fast one on you.

Turn your old phone off and wrap it up. You can dop off at any Fedex drop off location or find a Dollar General store. They will scan the package and send a receipt notice via text to your phone. Samsung will receive a couple business days later and let you know they receive. Few more days until they get a chance to review and ok the trade-in.

I recently did a S21 trade in to Verizon.com for $1000 credit over 36 months. The CS chat rep says I must keep the phone on line and cannot upgrade again or I will lose the remaining credit balance on the trade in. Hoping my S23U lasts me well over 3 years lol.
That's kinda what I thought. Thanks for the info. I hate that the promo is over 36months now. I got $1000 trade in credit when I upgraded to the S22 Ultra when it came out. But that promo is being applied over 36 months. Guess I'll wait until the 36 months are up. I don't see a need to upgrade, but it is nice having the latest at a cheap price

These phone companies are just extorting people now. 3 years? That's insane.

I've tried multiple times to get them to give me a cart link with the price corrected and each time they do the price remains $429 and then they talk to support and give me BS excuses. The latest one is

"we are not able to use EPP discount if we are using trade in credits"

LOL really? I use EPP with trade in credits all the time.
I've tried multiple times. They go around in circles with random lies and different excuses every time. They themselves don't know what to say. But they won't do anything.

Plus these are India teams which the US teams would go crazy on to hear that they discounted anything.

Still thinking whether to upgrade my s21u, it still works great and great condition but a year ago I had dropped it (while in otterbox) after which it stopped detecting any physical sim cards but runs fine on esim. Not sure if Samsung would notice and give hard time over it if I trade in.

It's on the fine print at the bottom of the deals page that EPP discounts do not stack with the instant rebates.

It's everyone. As far as I know from two days watching this thread nobody has gotten it to stay with the shown price once it's in the cart. This is for the 512GB version, not sure about the 256GB version. Lots of chatting with reps and hearing "sorry", but they won't fix the price in the cart.

I've benefited over lots of Samsung deals over the last few years, so I won't complain too much, but the arbitrariness of their site is really, really strange.
Not only Ultra. I even tried S23+. The price is not sticking. Once added to the cart EPP discount is removed.

$250 extra for entire phone upgrade and 256 gb & 8gb ram seems worth. Another $180 just for memory upgrade is not reasonable for me given that trade in value is going to be same.. I can live with 8gb for another 6 months and if I feel it not enough, Will make use of pre order offer for s24 ultra which may come with free storage upgrade 😉
Going 12 to 8 is a downgrade. Why bother even for free, but especially paying $250 extra?

This is funny.
I can easily straight-trade an iPhone 14 pro max for a brand new/sealed 1TB Samsung S23 ultra all day on FB marketplace and/or Craigslist.

samsung chat confirmed Referral codes or any other coupon or student discount or employee offers or military cannot be used/stacked on top of this promo. Confirmed with samsung support and 249 is the best price
