No free memory upgrade to 512gb. With regular offer at 512GB free upgrade, it is $427 with education discount comparing to $449, hence not good deal for 512GB version. But good deal for 256GB.

The biggest upgrade is the 8gen2. I own both s22u and s23u, the s22u is constantly a hot potato while s23u is at most warm under heavy load. Other than the processor, the battery life is a huge improvement. At $200 difference probally it makes sense to upgrade but not over that.

They ship you your new phone with packing material. Some soft sheeting and a lot of cardboard that is long, shredded like a pair of 80s jeans, rolled up on the new phone. A fedex return label will be inside. You will need to tape it to the outside of the box, on top of the original label (or remove the original label and apply new one).

Get your new phone up and running first. Look for any issues for a week.

Do a factory reset on your old phone. take a picture of the screen with your new phone to show no issues of front and back while on. In case Samsung employee tries to pull a fast one on you.

Turn your old phone off and wrap it up. You can dop off at any Fedex drop off location or find a Dollar General store. They will scan the package and send a receipt notice via text to your phone. Samsung will receive a couple business days later and let you know they receive. Few more days until they get a chance to review and ok the trade-in.

Maybe folks have a subpar unit, but I haven't seen any major heat or battery issues with my s22 ultra. I am a moderate user and it easily lasts me a day. I plan to continue keeping it.

For folks who are hanging on to their s22 ultra: Woot has tons of Samsung OEM cases(leather, silicone, and plastic with stand) for $5-10. They are a lot better compared to aftermarket ones.

It depends on what you're looking for in a case. I prioritize protection for a phone that costs over $1k, and I prefer the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro over anything OEM. It does such a great job of protecting the phone and has a kickstand that also lets you hook your finger on it to hold the phone. Tried the Samsung ultra protective OEM case and it isn't nearly as good. Had Supcase on the S22U and it survived many drops. I bought another for S23U.

I don't have neither of those programs, so screw Samsung, not chaising tiny changes, me not qualifying makes the decision not to upgrade from S22U easier.

Is the free 4 month YouTube Premium promotion for new YouTube Premium users only? If not, how to activate on an existing account? Thanks.
It definbately won't work on an existing account. You need to start a new account.

For a 1k phone maybe. S22 ultra was widely available for a lot less. Most folks I know paid around $300-500 for the s22 ultra last year through Google Fi or Bestbuy.

Doesn't make sense to give away your 512GB S22U. Then get a 256GB S23U. Samsung needs to think their strategy with this one. I am sure many are being held back with that move.

I agree if you need the storage space. As far as performance the 8GB/256 S23U outperforms the 12GB/512 S22U.

I'd still want a protective case on a phone I paid $500 for too. Everywhere I go I see people using phones with cracked screens and think it sucks to be them.

What are you talking about?

Samsung never verify student status, all you need to be qualified is choose the discount before check out.

Be sure to take a video of the packing and at least a photo of the device front back. Likely you won't need it but every once in a while something gets screwed up.

The good news is the future trade in values for 256gb or 512gb is the same.

I see CB on total amount e.g., in CA, $250 + $110 = $360.
What was the $110?

Last July Samsung had a $1,000 trade in value for the s21 ultra to pick up the s22 ultra 256GB for $199 PLUS you could stack your military or edu discounts to bring the price lower PLUS you could get a free accessory such as a clear phone case PLUS you could get a free samsung air tag PLUS you could get a FREE Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 classic. I got this very deal last July of 2022. You can search slickdeals for that post that is still up.

This deal here now is nowhere near as good as the one in July 2022. No thanks Samsung. I'll keep waiting for either Samsung or Best buy to sweeten the deal, otherwise I'm fine waiting until next year.
Same here sold the watch got almost free S22 with upgraded storage

How does one perform the tradein?
Do they send you a prepaid envelope?
Samsung will email you a Fedex label. Box up your phone, attach the label and bring it to a Fed Ex store.
