how do you check for the hour usage on this tv?
From the OSD menu, go to General > Devices > TV Management > TV Information. Look for Total Power On Time.

What do you even do with a 42" TV in 2023?
What kind of question is this and you're a "pro" ?

Took a chance on a "satisfactory" open box. At the store the notes said it's missing screws for the feet. I'm going to wall mount it, so nbd. Only 76 hours on the TV. $830 after tax + 5 year protection.

How do I buy the protection? At the store or under purchase history? I couldn't find it when checking out

When looking at your cart, I saw a box to check for 2 or 5 year geek squad protection on mobile. On desktop, you can click the 2 or 5 year protection on the product page before you add it to your cart.

Is there finally a consensus on using OLED as monitor for productivity? I remember there was something about how text looks, forgot the term.
I've been using a 48in A1 for 6+ months full time as a work monitor. Wouldn't go back to anything else.

Wouldnt touch a store display unit no matter the price. Thousands of hours in "Store" mode, ultra ultra ultra bright etc.

Just picked up the Sony A90k for $713 which was the Best Buy open box that only had 13 hours of operation... now deciding if I should return it for this
