This is actually a really good deal, because you get $20 trade in on the echo show, plus you get a discount on the new device purchase. Both of those trigger in this deal.
So it's really good deal because I originally paid $35 for my old echo show 5, and now I'm trading it in and getting a discount on the new device, where the total discount is worth more than the $35 I originally paid. Excellent.
returned it.

They also offered me $30 for my old Echo Show 8, so this deal could even be $10 cheaper had I traded that one in.

It did not applied $30 GC for trade-in to the order though but gave to me separately.

The only time I'm getting $30 is on my latest Kindle Paperwhite - which I have NO plans to return.
Why only $5 for the Echo Dot devices? (So greedy
Dang
They might be doing this due to a surplus of inventory. I feel like they just released a couple of new products/refreshes in the last 12 months. They don't have the same annual upgrades for things as other device makers. Is it worth redesigning an Echo each year if they are selling enough for their desires? Is the current gen Fire still running well enough for their standard? Have to weigh that against fatigue and actual consumer upgrade cycles. We had a bunch of 2nd gen Echo Dots and have upgraded/traded them in for 3rd gen Dots, one regular Echo, and two 8" Shows over a few sales/years. I don't see a reason to upgrade any of these any time soon - nothing compelling me feature wise and, aside from true stereo (2 speakers with a distance between them), I don't see how it would sound much better in that price range. I also can't imagine I would really notice a difference between devices unless had a group of different devices playing in different rooms.
