20 amp at that!

good enough to control that new attic fan that you are about to install to try and help control the heat up there and help lower the electric bill for the A/C. laugh out loud

Get an attic fan with a thermostat so it goes on automatically when the set temperature is reached.

If you have an outlet up there, you can wire a plug on the end instead of a switch… up to you.

This price is okay, but no one should use a 20 amp switch unless they have 12awg or better wiring & appropriate circuit breaker. Most light wiring in homes is 14awg, which uses a maximum of 15amp switches.

Those are way better left on all the time with a thermometer/humidity stat to control them. Set it and forget it.

I am not an electrician, but that's not the way it works

Think with 15 amp switches, they work with anything up to 15 amps, same with this but up to 20, however if they are only on a 15 amp circuit they will have a 15 amp breaker that will trip if they try to use anything bigger.

You only want 15 amp switches ( way cheaper ) for lighting circuits.

As others said, don't really need 20a switches for lighting circuits. Even if the lighting was on a 12ga, 20a circuit, lights don't use much power and switches only need to be sized for the load on them. Now if you've got a bunch of high power lights (ie - halogen) or maybe a bathroom heat lamp/fan moving to 20a could be useful. Or if you're controlling a 20a receptacle.

15a version of this switch would be around $3. Less than $2 if you are buying 10+.

Yellowed, or are they ivory? Are the switch plates the same color as the switches? A lot of older homes have ivory switches, outlets and covers. As others have noted, the switch in this deal is likely overkill at 20A - get a bulk pack of 15A switches for much cheaper if you're planning on changing out all your devices. (Duplex 15A outlets also come in bulk packs).

In ~37 years of home ownership I've never come across a need for either a 20A switch or 20A outlet for standard household duty.
