I personally really like the Sennheiser HD 6XX a lot. I have both HD555 from 17 years back as well as the 6XX and they both sound good to me, with improved clarity on the 6XX.

Monoprice deleted the OP's product link when they ran out of open box stock. They often do this on OOS/Discontinued products, but the regular listing Desktop Balanced Headphone Amplifier and DAC with THX AAA [monoprice.com] is up as of now.

Scroll down the page to download:
- Xmos Driver - you need this in Windows for additional functions (like changing the bitrate from other than 48k).

- Firmware 1.03 (mine already came with 1.04 so I do not need it, but check your "About" screen on the amp to see if you do).

- User Manual and Spec Sheet.

Head-fi says this page was taken down earlier, so its a good idea to download while you can.

Mine just arrived, it looks new and works great. A lot of cool gadgets to fiddle with. Head-fi has a long thread discussing this model. [head-fi.org]

Yes, their Open Box are customer returns. After they inspect them they are "Recertified" if they work and look right, prior to resale.

I got mine today, and it looks brand new. All the plastic on everything was fully intact and the seal on the outside of the box as well.

Received mine. Looks like brand new. Using HD6XX with balance cable. DIRAC enable adds huge soundstage and the mid forward, veiled and dark characteristics of 6XX disappeared. The headphone becomes very balanced in tonality, extremely smooth and musical. This Dac/Amp pairs really well with 6XX when DIRAC enabled.

Really enjoying this dac/amp. Set up Volumio on a Raspberry Pi 4 and streaming and local play sounds great.
