I buy the DiamondClean ones (much better than the SimplyClean ones) in bulk since I've found those work better. Those are on sale right now at 8 for $38 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B38Z3S7).

Interesting. How did you open the handle to get to the motor? I was under the impression that it's very difficult / near impossible to do so without destroying it because of the way they build it to be waterproof, which is why replacing the battery is also considered impossible. Thanks.
The bottom piece you pry out with a flathead just being careful with the gasket. You may cause a little damage to the housing since it is a tight fit, but it's not too bad and doesn't affect the waterproofing. Once off, there are 2 release tabs which allow the entire inner assembly to be pulled out. From here it is pretty simple to readjust the spacing and tighten the screws back up. Replacing the battery would of course require soldering skills, but still a fairly easy task.

Here is a video showing the process

They didn't degrade your brush motor. It happened because the screws that hold the motor in place came loose which caused the spacing gap between the motor and vibrating head to close up. This is what made your toothbrush so much noisier. Same thing happened to mine and all I had to do was reopen the gap and retighten the motor screws. Also added some blue loctite to them. It's been good and quiet ever since.
Thank you for the correction. The issue coincided with the purchase of those new heads, so I attributed it to that given that all other factors were the same. The dangers of anecdotal evidence and confirmation bias working together, lol

Why use "real" brush heads over "fakes"? I've been using the cheap ones on Amazon and they seem to work fine. Just wondering what justifies spending 2-3x more on the name brand version.
Do u have any recommendations for cheaper not name brand options??

I can't find this sold anywhere but amazon and third party on Walmart. Any way to confirm these are genuine?
The W2 brush heads have brushsync technology. For that technology to work the brush head must have a microchip installed. Hard to fake. Currently, the price shows as $44. This is still better than Costco on Sale which is $50 for 8. I've never tried this model (W2 - Philips Sonicare Optimal White) but it seem to be the best in general. Now I'm waiting to get it for $38.

Can you check your link? I bought the diamondclean but now it just says optimal, and that is what I got in the mail. I think they switched it out.
