Lenovo sent out a mass email acknowledging the mistake and issuing refunds - FYI.

Watch out, I purchased this laptop and they charged my CC and extra $70 for 1-year of support that I never agreed to. I had to argue over this charge with 3 CS reps and never got the charge refunded. I returned it out of disgust.

Yeah, it's a shame this new gen is so much better, but then they took away the 500nits display from the default QHD 16inch screen. I purchased this laptop and returned it - Brightness was lacking for sure. I purchased a "Build your own" with the 500nits and 32GB of RAM for $1505 with 5% off student discount. On top of that, I used one of those deal sites and got 12% cashback.. The only bummer is it was delayed 5 weeks.. I bought it on May 22nd, and it won't be here till June 30th..

Now as for their support, I've had decent success talking with them on several purchases and returns. I have also delt with Dell support, and it was a lot harder to get any response and real person. Lenovo chat support was pretty helpful.

Genuine question: someone not into tech much but is considering buying a MacBook Air vs Lenovo or dell laptop. This is quite a lot of money for occasional use (I.e paying bills/ doing minor excel work, etc). Any recommendations for decent laptop?

You won't need a laptop with a dedicated graphics card for that sort of stuff so something with a decent intel chip and Iris Xe will be plenty sufficient for productivity tasks.

Lenovo currently has the 14" slim 7i with the 13th gen i5 on sale for $775…that's probably well suited for the task you described. Tbh you could get away with spending even less, but I think it's a solid laptop for the price .

This isn't the deal for me, 500 nits display was the USP for this device. Other than that great specs of a great device.

Abysmal customer service, it's enough to never buy one ever again, I don't think people can echo this sentiment enough.
I understand what you mean. I will never buy Lenovo again, I got a widescreen 34" monitor and it started to have problem two weeks after the warranty ran out on amazon, amazon told me to contact lenovo directly for assistance because i still have a few months left of warrant with lenovo. So I did, they took more than 5 months to "help" only to send a replacement with 2 dead pixel and now that the warranty is fully expired they can no longer help. They basically delayed to help to get the warranty to expire only to send a monitor with 2 dead pixel...

Dang, missed the previous deal with more RAM and seemed to cost less in the end.

Got few questions for those that have this unit or similar configurations but still the newest Legion Pro 5 with Ryzen CPU.

Is one of the USB-C connection eventually can be used as USB4 or USB 4? However they supposed to be spelled. Want to get one of these units with a bit of future proof.

Also, when attempting to build your own, it says that there is an option to add a second NVME SSD when selecting the first one as 1TB SSD, does the unit has a second slot for additional expansion if needed?

Thanks in advance.
