Terms:
The 40% promotion code savings is valid for one-way or round trip Wanna Get Away® and Wanna Get Away Plus® fares booked on Southwest.com from June 13 through June 15, 2023, 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time (the "Booking Period") and flown between Aug. 15 through Dec. 14, 2023, ("Travel Period"). Travel is blacked out from Nov. 16 through Nov. 27, 2023. The Promotion code savings are applied before government taxes and fees. Enter promotion code 40OFF in the Promo Code box when booking during the Booking Period. Seats and days are limited. If a Customer enters the promotion code 40OFF in the Promo Code box on Southwest.com or swabiz.com during the Booking Period, then while selecting your flights, savings in the base fare will be visible as a strike-through of the original fare on eligible flights. Discount availability may vary by destination, flight, and day of week, and won't be available on some flights that operate during very busy travel times and holiday periods. Please note that the Department of Transportation (DOT) requires advertised fares to include all government taxes and fees; however, this promotion applies to the base fare only.
The discount is valid on new reservations only. The discount will apply only for select flights booked within the Booking Period while supplies last for travel flown within the Travel Period. Changes made to the itinerary after purchase will eliminate qualifications for this promotion and will result in the forfeiture of any promotion code savings. The discount is only valid with the provided promotion code and is not combinable with other promotion codes or fares.

What you can do, and I tell people to do this all the time, is every week check your reservation by going to your account, finding your flight(s), and clicking "change". Go through and look to see if your flight's price has changed and if it is lower than when you booked it, they'll give you that money back in the form of a travel credit.
To give you an idea of how i've done this, I had a work trip to Vegas booked back in March and the fares were stupid high (~$780). I checked a week later and they had dropped to being $225 less than when I booked. I did the change/rebook option and got that money back as a travel credit that I can use for a future flight. You can do this on any SW booked flight and the price you see is the difference between what you paid and what it is now. If it is $+32 then you'll pay more than you did. But if it is ($100) then they'll credit you back.
Southwest Airlines is hosting their Southwest Airlines 2023 Wanna Get Away Day and offering 40% Off Select Base Airfare Flights (Limited Flight Dates) w/ promo code 40OFF (apply during checkout) when you book June 15, 2023 and travel between August 15 through December 14, 2023.
I have two flight options out of 128 (one specific flight time, then wanna get away and wanna get away plus) on my two specific days that even get the discount, albeit a Friday departure and Sunday return.
It's one of the few areas consumers actually have some protection from predatory practices.
This ain't Temu.
I can't reasonably object to this. Airlines are singled out for some reason, while hotels, car dealers, rental car agencies, etc. all get to post prices that you have no chance of paying for the goods or services they claim to be selling. Deep discount airlines are kind of getting around this by advertising torture-class pricing without disclosing what it cost to fly in reasonable comfort until just before you book, but that's a benefit unique to them that real airlines can't use.

Why do you prefer transferring? I get an extra 25% value when booking through chase, so I've always done it that way.

If the flight isn't discounted, nothing will show.
