Is this really durable?

I have abused mine in drywall and they hold up decent.

As long as you are not hitting wood or metal studs, they will last quite a while

I've used these, they work fine. However, unless there's an odd shape or something tricky, it's much easier to use a good old manual drywall saw.

Only one broke after zipping through a 250 sheets of drywall build.

When hanging new drywall, these are so fast and easy compared to manual cutting. There's little need for measuring and the cut-outs are perfect.

What you do is hang the uncut sheet over the objects (like electrical boxes) tacked in place at the corners, then plunge in where the object is, move over to the edge, jump to the outside and trace around it. Boom, perfect cut-out in seconds.

This guy gives a good tutorial: https://youtu.be/xuRsOr-3aJs If you want to just see how quick and easy cutting out an electrical box is, skip to 5:56

But they kinda suck for old work. For that, use a knife, drywall saw, or oscillating tool.

Stupid question: can you use these bits in a regular drill in a pinch?

it would not be worth it, these need to be very high rpm to work properly.
