That is horrifying, and also why so many of us live in New Jersey. We have mosquitos and poison ivy, but other than that, trail walking is very pleasant.
This was in the middle of nowhere and it was cross country rather than a trail that a lot of people use. If you go to Sequoia or Yosemite, I doubt that you'll see a rattlesnake but you might at someplace like Malibu Canyon or Angeles Crest.

GOod Morning!

I'm looking for the "Class Action Settlements" thread. Can't find it! searched, but it doesn't come up.
My page for Drugstore/Grocery ....etc deals only shows back to 8-6-2023 last post. SHows its set for 30 threads. Clicked on 40, and refreshed page but I don't get more threads listed.????????

FOUND IT!! It was pages down in my 'Subscribed Threads"

I do dig through the post office recycling if I happen to be there in the evening (lobby is open 24 hours and there is a drop-box thing for packages). I'm sure they have me on camera and laugh at me. I don't do it that often, mostly when there is a specific coupon I want multiples of.

The biggest problem I have with the NJ trails are the loud people. I don't understand why some people think they NEED to go out in nature and then inflict ALL the details of their personal lives upon everyone within earshot while they blather away on their phones. One memorable "young lady" was telling her friend about how her current guy "only wanted sex and never wanted to go out and do anything", well duh, staying in and boinking is much cheaper.

So I was wrong about the Ralphs ad. It's still the same old boring mess with the stupid claymation figures. And that lady's voice on the commercials. It's worse than nails on a chalkboard. I wish that we had an alternative to Ralphs and Vons. Maybe Trader Joe's but I never go there. I always feel like I'm not cool enough to shop there although the banana nut bread is super tempting. I get the opposite feeling when I go to Wags. It's like I'm back in 2nd grade. I know that there's always 10 people on monitors watching me. I feel like a specimen in a lab. I want to scratch my butt just to freak them out but I know it will wind up on social media with those Walmart videos so no thanks...

I actually unsubscribe to threads periodically with the goal of keeping my pages of subscribed threads to the current ones I'm actively using and the ones I might want to use some day.

I do not want to make any of you from NJ mad, but in my interactions with folks from your great state I notice they are loud. I'm sure it is an over generalization and there are plenty of introverts who are quiet and I don't even know are from your great state. Kind of like how most people think everyone from Texas has a ranch, rides a horse and wears boots and a hat everywhere they go. LOL

I'm not a NJ native, but I've lived here longer than anywhere else and people really are loud around here. I'm quiet though and I value quiet.

Wildlife in my neighborhood that could kill me or at least cause a very bad day:
Brown Recluse (Bit at least once, thumb was purple for a couple of weeks)
Black Widows
Fire Ants (been swarmed a couple of times, get at least a coupe of bites a year)
Cow Killers
Copperheads
Cottonmouths
A couple varieties Rattlesnakes
Alligators
Bears
Armadillos (the leprosy thing)

Plus random loose dogs (was attacked by two Rottweilers in 2021 and my right arm is still jacked up, I do consider myself lucky to have survived it)

Ironically, we like it here because we can be outside more. Never thought I was a daredevil but I guess I am.

LOL

Your 20 year high school reunion is coming up. It's out of state. You can get a sitter for the kids. Will you go and how much will you spend for the weekend? Will you bring your spouse?

I don't know why I'm asking this stuff. Maybe we can get some fun comments.
My 30th anniversary of graduation is this year. To my knowledge we have never had a reunion. We are squarely in the "Well whatever, nevermind" portion of Gen X so it's fitting.
There were only 16 of us and at least one of us has died.

They would have to pay me to attend one of these if they had one though.

Just don't off those trails or the ticks will fill you with Lyme disease, babesia, bartonella, Rocky Mountain Spotted fever, etc.

All I can say is wow. I wouldn't want to deal with a brown recluse or an alligator. I've had bear encounters when I was backpacking but it was no big deal. If the bear wants to eat your food and wreck your backpack, you have to let him do it. You can hang your stuff but they'll just climb up the tree to get it. It sucks if you're a couple days out but at least you'll have a good story to tell when you get back and that's the important thing - getting back. You have to always stay safe.

I had a rottweiler that I loved very much. Sometimes after our walk he would get too excited when I'd give him a treat and accidentally touch my hand with his teeth. It wasn't a bite or anything like that but it was enough to draw blood and it hurt like hell. I can't imagine what being attacked must've been like for you. I'm so sorry.

Does anyone else ever wonder, when you can see that someone quoted you in a thread, what exactly they said when they've already edited their post and their response to your comment is gone by the tme you visit SD?

Was it a nice comment? Was it a snotty comment?

Maybe I'm the only one!

I mean, I've already been accused of spreading misinformation by a fairly new member, in a thread for a store I've shopped at for 17 years. I suppose I just shouldn't be surprised by anything these days.

For me it's usually I thought I had a question but then came up with the answer.

Your reply was great the other day except for signing up for new cards which you acknowledged and you meant well which is all that matters. Thanks for everything Smilie
